Car Behaviour Changes (need others to chip in)

I caught a lucky break and didn't have to go to work today, so I immediately booted up my PS4 and updated the game. As you can imagine I then proceeded straight to Monza Daily for a few practice laps; I picked the Corvette since I saw it got a power boost in the BOP changes. Now, here is the thing, before this patch I could only drive a few select Gr.3 cars with all aids off - save for ABS at weak - for the rest I always used CSA to keep the rear in check. This being a big update, I decided to turn off CSA before I hit the track; and voila right off the bat I could apply throttle exiting Parabolica smoothly. At first I thought it was a fluke, so I did a dozen laps and except for one incident where I lost the rear - getting greedy - coming out of Variante, I faced no complications.

I should add that I have only tried the Vette so far, still, I could never get such a good feel and response from it before the patch. Whether it's a placebo effect or something has changed remains to be seen. This is where I need other people's feedback, to confirm if this is indeed a patch effect.

EDIT:
I tested out the M6, got a 1.49 after five laps, yea I know it's not the fastest of laps but for an unruly car I couldn't drive properly without CSA yesterday it's a good sign.
PS: Took both Variantes in the dreaded 2nd gear.
Tried the 458 as well, while I admit it doesn't behave as well as the Corvette and the M6, I can push it consistently without losing it. There is some tail wagging every now and then but nothing that I cannot save.
Viper was tested too, got my fastest lap at Monza in it.
Further edit:
Testing at Maggiore bore the same results.

I've only driven in VR so far and on monza, but the diablo and mclaren felt like sunday drivers, was hoping to need to tame a beast.

Couldn't you just test the other cars yourself?

I will, what's wrong with asking for more input?
Nothing?

I only asked because driving/racing sith CSA probably isn’t something most people on here use(I could be wrong)? And I feel like it would make for a more meaningful OP id you’d had a look at other cars.

It could be that actually you just got better, or perhaps that corner isn’t as hard to apply throttle in (it works with the downforce etc)... Parabolica is a long pretty quick corner after all.

Plus, you got the day off work :sly:

I am at work, so can't test anything...

Have you tried on other tracks? That, to me, will tell you a lot.

Don't tell me you found "grip bug" 2.0 j/k :D

Check whether the accelerator is linear, this can explain this behavior.
There has always been a deadzone from 0-50% since I bought the G29, it's not much but it is detectable while as far as I can tell from the feel of the pedal that there is less range for 50% to 100%.

At work, and plans after, maybe only tomorrow.

But, as @baldgye said, many of us don't use CSA, as my case.
You are right but I have seen a few top 10 drivers using it, so they might be able to help if they post here.

Are you only testing this at Monza?

You won't figure anything out if you don't test on tracks that you ran before the update

I just finished testing the last car, the Viper. I wanted to test all the cars I needed CSA on the same track first. 2nd phase is to try all those at Maggiore, if I tested out different cars at different tracks it wouldn't make sense.

I was not saying test different cars at different tracks. I was saying don't waist time at Monza. Go to a track you know well. Compare with same track, car, settings... See if you are faster and how the car feels. You can only test things like this by having all variables the same.

First I had to make sure it was not just me getting better with one car, so I tested out all those which I had difficulty with. Anyway, I just finished running them all on Maggiore and found out I can push each car, by that I don't mean reckless throttle, without changing my driving style. I drove them roughly the same way as I do the cars I didn't assist for, like the Z4, 4C and 911.

Now that is interesting. How about your times? Noticealy different? There was some suspicion that people could have had the reverse affect of the grip bug....

I wasn't trying to beat you up or anything. Just can't compare on a track you haven't ran on before in this game.

You should, it makes some cars faster (at least before the update anyway, not sure now).
I know it makes most RWD cars faster, that's not the point.
Many people don't use it, me included, because, contrary to TCS, ESP or ABS, it's an unnatural assist. It's something that "magically" stabilizes your car without affecting your speed. Other systems can stabilize your car by intervening on engine delivery (TCS), brake apply (ABS) or both (ESP). Some systems use smart diffs also.
But when you go beyond the grip limit, you can't stabilize the car without decreasing the car dynamics below grip limits. That can't be done, making you go faster at the same time.

@GTFraker Which camera angle? :D

This is how my thread started :D

For what it's worth, I turned TCS off ages ago and (once acclimated) I haven't had an issue driving without it, even with GR1.

I never drove with TCS, I offset it with CSA on some cars.
PS: Same ole bumper cam.

@BigDawg_1281 : tested out the 911, the throttle definitely doesn't need as much babying as it used to. I didn't manage to beat my best time - the RSR was nerfed - but I'm faster during long runs since I don't have to be so conservative with my acceleration.

I'm currently in the process of testing all cars on Alsace, so after reading this I took on a car I had already ran (Mustang GT), I'm coming close to my previous lap time. Don't think there was any critical change.

I am not one to say something without backing it up with proof, but I felt something different. I was having huge problems with one combo just minutes before the update. I think I could still go faster, but I was sliding everywhere. Really hard to get a whole lap right.
5 laps after the update, the car felt so stable that I shaved 0.6 from my best lap from before the update.
I won’t be able to upload a video in the next few days, but if you guys still think it’s necessary, later next week, I’ll. Again, don’t need to take my word on that, but maybe we had varying values for the grip bug.

Or they just changed some parameters of the combo I was trying.

@GT_Alex74 do you think it could be possible he had a reverse affect of the grip bug?

If what he says is happening only to him... makes me wonder, why?
Not sure if I have better grip now, I tried more aggressive braking points but didn't benefit from it, best way to describe it that I feel surer of the car now. Before the patch some cars felt like they had balloons for tyres.
