Car classes help

I wanna get into Sim Racing and really start working on my driving.
What do I have?
- T500 RS (waiting response from Thrustmaster whether they will help me with broken brake pedal)
- Assetto Corsa

Have some questions.

1. Tried to find info but I guess I not searching correctly, Car classes.
GT 1 through 5. Some of them are no longer active or has been replaced.
The reason I feel I need to understand these is because I have to start somewhere.

TLR What class/car would you recommend a beginner who wanna start their journey and eventually wanna start competing in some kind of league?


2. A follow up question with this I'm interested in knowing what should get during the Summer Sale on RacRoom.
What I got so far (not much):
Koenigsegg CCGT
Volvo 240 Turbo (had to get it during the sale it was on since my family owned a 240 back in the days)
RaceRoom Hillclimb

I want advice in terms of developing my racing skills.
What cars/tracks would be most beneficial if we take into consideration that I also have Assetto Corsa?
I have 841 vRP

I would ask in the Assetto Corsa forum/section, honestly. Unless you also plan on wanting to take some real world driving classes as well (& they may very well help you in sim racing), this is section revolves around real world cars & driving.
