I hope in gt4 they sort some stuff out for the race cars.
For example the Ford GT 40 was a classic endurance racer. But there were no other classic endurance race cars to race it against of the same period as the Gt 40

The Mazda 787b was a group C sportscar but had no other group c cars for it to be raced against. ( No other car but another 787b could keep up with it and f1 cars were to fast.) So it had nothing to race against like the GT40

Hope they sort it for Gt4 maybe a classic endurance car cup and a Group C sportscar cup as well.

I agree with that, exept for the no other cars keeping up with the 787b but the F1's, the TS020 GT-One and R390-GT1 race cars were both faster than the 787b.

TS020 GT-One, R390-GT1 and 787b were about the same over one lap the r390 gt1 slowest but, i found the 787b could keep a faster pace over more laps because is was not hard on its tyres as much as the other cars so was fastest. Gt one was very harsh on tyres and always overstears badely on the exit of slow corners. But every one has different style so people prefer some cars and not other

good point and nice find james

The 2nd place car in the 1969 24 Hours of LeMans was a Porsche 908, not a 917.

I agree. There needs to be more cars for each class. Probably 12 or so. I really dig the JGTC groups as well - there are two classes (GT300 and GT500 I believe) both of which could use some additional racers.

But again (getting tired of this yet?) I don't care nearly as much about the cars as I do about new tracks. If they spend 5:1 hours Tracks:Cars, I don't care. I want more tracks. I don't care if they're real or fake, street or track, detailed or dulldrum ... I want more places to rag out my ride.

more tracks is a must. i hope for Spa, suzuka and monza as well some classics from the 70s when tracks were fast and dangerous and driver were truely brave.

List of Old tracks

Österreichring
Kyalami
Rouen-les-Essarts
Zandvoort
Watkins glen
Brands Hatch
Dijon-Prenois
Imola
Paul Ricard
Mugello
Silverstone
Buenos Aires
Lakeside
Interlagos

Thats all i can think of. hope som people remeber what they were like in all the glory befor micky mouse chicanes and crapy redesigns were made.

When thinking of these tracks, what kind of design do you like best? I can't really think of catagories to break them into, so I'll cite examples.

Grand Valley (GT3) and Suzuka are a bit "free form" ...

Or something more like Seattle (GT3) and Motegi which I find very angular.

Additionally do you like pure race tracks, or city courses? In the city group do you like highway or city streets? What about wide open tracks or tight narrow runs?

Grand Valley is becoming one of my more favorite tracks. I also like Tokyo a lot as well.

I like long and twisty tracks with camber and the like. Flat is sometimes a little boring. That said I do like the night city tracks in the GT series. Bring back Rome Night!

I do enjoy Grand Valley a great deal but Deep Forest is my favourite. That's not counting Complex String because you can't race other cars there.

I believe you can race other cars on Complex String in 2 Player and iLink. And I agree, Deep Forest is really great. I like the lack of straights, other than the starting grid. Everything else has nice casual bends and keeps the racing really fun.

Ah yes but you need friends for that. ;)

Anyway I have raced people there in 2P... Not fun if who you're racing against is worse than the AI.

IMO Complex string is the best raceway in GT3...

I also want to say that I'm really bored with other GT tracks... spent too much time on them and can't find real pleasure to race on.... too easy, too short, strange environment... these are not real enough to really feel like racing in a simulation ... you see ?

What can the gameplay bring if the tracks are not interesting...

I would say first that I'm so happy to see more narrow and real tracks to come in GT4...

You really feel like racing....

Moreover and in addition, what I really wait for is a new concept.. based on the first NFS ... not only P2P roads.. but real roads available to cruise or have fun on....

Do you imagine GT gameplay to go on your every day life roads...

Cruising through France or Europe ... be able to start from Paris and drive to Rome through Alps.... ( Montécarlo Rallye Roads...) Never the same road, never the same turns...

And also Historical Races like Targa Florio or Mille Miglia... or Tour de France...

These are the perfect raceways !!!!

What about Targa Tasmaina. The roads here are great, like a continuation of Nurburgring.

Yes i also hope that they bring back the complex string....love that track.

Definitely worth checking out the video below, of 5 R34s on Complex String in iLink mode ... :D It's even an exciting race with some good battles. :p

And yes, it has to be said that undulating tracks are the bomb. I love tracks like Monaco, Seattle, Apricot Hill and so on.

I'm hopeful for GT4 as Prologue already has 5 completely new tracks of which Tsukuba and Fuji are great replicas of their real-life counterparts, and other new tracks look very promising (Capri, Hong Kong, etc.)

I hope there will be multiplayer races possible on Citta d'Aria too, even if they limit it to small cars ... :D

it would be a very good idea to put more restrictions on certain cup-races, like class cars, max BHP, aspiration and drivetype.

Class C Cars: cars with a max of 100BHP and a max weight of 1000kg

Class B Cars: cars with a max of 180 BHP and a max weight of 1500 KG

Class A Cars: cars with up to 276 BHP and no restriction to max weight

Class IC Cars: Racing modification, max 245 BHP, no weight limit

Class IB Cars: Racing modification, max 360 BHP, no weight limit

Class IA Cars: Racing modification, max 561 BHP, no wieght limit

Class S-NA Cars: no BHP limit, no weight limit, Natural aspirated

Class S-TS Cars: no BHP limit, no weight limit, turbo- or supercharged aspirated

Class IS: racing modification or LM cars, no BHP and weight limit.

Isn't this how it was in GT2? I think they should use a Power:Weight restriction. That way you get both weight and HP in one number.

That's really cool. I wonder what it would be like with six people more closely matched. I also wish it were easier to make / save replays. How many PS2s can be connected into the iLink session? would it be possible to have six observers? Then in editing cut the screen into four parts and show the race from four angles at the same time.

I should be a race video editor ... (:

Concerning car classes it's clear that the worst thing in GT3 was the lack of information on AI opponents car modification level....

Merely impossible to know how to configure your car to be just at the right level of performance... making the professional part of GT not more interresting than beginning part... AI being still crap..

Sometimes your too slow... so you are furious... then upgrade your car and then .. still too slow.... upgrade once more and then too fast.... s...t

What is really important is to be able to select a car with the good level of power for each event... ( In fact, if no modification would possible, the pb would be solved....) ...

Car classes may solve the pb ... and just add more info on the AI cars and then, you can adapt your car to the event...

Or like they do in JGTC to keep it competetive there could be weight added to certain cars (player included) to ballance the field. It would be required that any changes be made public to the player as well.

Thats the same base as GT2? Have you ever played it?

I think 100bhp is abit low, you are looking at real city runners there. I prefer the 196bhp limit of GT2.

yea 100 is realy realy low, its probably ony going ot be the vitz and cars like that

The only restriction you need IS IN YOUR HEAD.

GT2's system of restrictions was good, but personally I never needed an "restriction" in terms of BHP / KS / PS / KW / whatever.

If you want to drive less or same powerfull car, pick up one and live true GT experience.

If you want to win with no cost, take Formula 1 or Escudo. It's your choice.

What is missing is data abut other cars in certain race, as seen in the first game. Return of "Grid List" would be great. In compo with that, some ability of adjusting turbo-boost would do great, because you'd be able to do a fine-tune of power to match the competitors.

Personally, I miss all "vs." cups (USA vs Japan and so), together with manufactorers cups for every manufactorer. I'd like to see them back.

that list is just an example, and yes!!! Offcourse i've played gt2. Why would i buy it if i wouldn't play it at all. i've got the whole series, from the orignal GT to GT Tokyo-Geneva Concept
(Gt4P is not available in europe)

i liked the gt3 setup better, but anyway it comes out ill take it. i dont care cause i know it will be good

I find that the problem with the way GT3 does it is that I have to keep entering race with different cars/parts to find a fairly good combination, whereas the guides in GT2 made it much, much easier.

Firstly - this is a top site. Lots of good reading. I am a big fan of GT.

P2C has hit on a great point. Driving through Europe or anywhere that is not a loop would be unreal. And to race other cars on these roads - brilliant.

My favourate tracks is Sealtle 2 and Lagoona

deep forest raceway was my fav track it was fast with swoping bends and bumpy which made it fun in fast cars. maybe be a mini targa florio would be cool or a track like it were i winds up a mountain road. Hill climb events would good to

Targa florio ( Dose any one else think protype race cars of the late 60s and 70s look really good, best looking race cars ever)

One of GT3s biggest shortcomings is the lack of depth in the tournaments. It seems once you win in the amature/professional ranks, there are no more series for highly tuned rides, except the LM classes. I so hope that GT4 creates some quality tuned vehicle series with HP/weight limits. Its been mentioned before but GT2s International Championships were great, and the GT300 and GT500 classes were cool too. Anyhows, PD has no excuse after delaying the release this long.
