I'm creating a book, featuring 20 aestheticly artistic car designs. I need the name of the designer that came up with the body's design. But there are 3 cars that I want to include, but can't find the person who designed the body.

The cars are:

Scion xB (or Toyota bB [black box])
Ferrari 212 Export Vignale Spyder
Mercedes 300SL Gullwing

If anyone could help me find the name of the designer for these, that would be great. Or if you can think of other cars that are aesthetically beautiful car designs, then feel free to suggest some here.

Here is my current list that I have: (please let me know if any of my info is wrong:)

-Gordon Murry – McLaren F1
-Adrian von Hooydonk – BMW 5-Series (and the others)
-Jim Hall – Chaparral 2J
-Horacio Pagani – Pagani Zonda & Lamborghini Countach (25th year anniversary) 1988-1989
-Marcello Gandini – Lamborghini Countach
-George Saridakis – Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept
-Tom Tjaarda - DeTomaso Pantera
-Alec Issigoni – Mini Cooper
-Ferdinand Porsche – Volkswagen 1934
-Henry Ford – Ford Model A
-Harley Earl – 1951 Le Sabre concept
-Phil Frank – Nike One 2022 & Saleen S7
-Keith Helfet – Jaguar XJ220
-Alex Shen – Scion t2B
-J Mays – Ford 49 Concept and Volkswagen New Beetle
* 212 Export Vignale Spyder
-Steven Pasteiner – Buick Blackhawk
-George Snyder – Buick Y-Job (first concept car)
-Giorgetto Giugiaro – DeTomaso Mangusta
-Count Carlo Felice – Trossi 1930 Mercedes-Benz "Count Trossi" SSK
*1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe

The Viper and Shleby Series 1 were designed by Caroll Shelby. Just some others to point out.

If you expect someone to come right out and take the blame for designing that, you're crazy.

 I was thinking the same thing. Just like the Aztek, but I know how that was designed.

I'd like to know the designer behind xB as well.

I don't know if you like these, but designs I'm digging currently:

Acura/Honda NSX
Toyota GT One
Jiotto Caspita - I'm not sure about the spelling there. It was an beautiful exotic midengine car. I think Dome was involved in it(This company has Dome Zero in GT4).
BMW 8-Series
BMW M-Coupe
Lamborghini Diablo(I'm glad you picked Countach!)
Alfa Romeo Giulia GT

I'm sure I forgot some, probably something Giugiaro(Sr.) designed.

Edit: I can't believe the xB and Aztek is being compared. I admit, there are a lot of people who doesn't like the look of xB. There are easily as many people who love that design. You can't say that about Aztek IMO.

You sir are a fake, and not a real moderator.

Yeah i would eliminate that in your av pronto. The xb isn't bad, I just wouldn't want to wake up to it every morning.

Lotus Elise - Russell Carr and Stephen Crijins
BMW X Coupe - (an entire design study)
Aston Martin DB9, BMW Z8 - Henrik Fisker.

If you want to look like you know what you're talking about, don't say Scion xB. It was the Toyota bB far before the Scion brand existed. I'll let you know about your list of car designers, you are missing some very important designs as well. Your list doens't exactly capture most of the more important/influential car designs of our century.

👍 on the Zonda, couldn't agree more.

I'm not trying to display some of the most important cars or designs. This book is focusing soley on artistic, beautiful designs. Any other recommendations that fall into "cars as an art form"?

it says 'ere in me book "the art of the sports car" the 300sl was designed by chief engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut, Technical Director Fritz Nallinger and Stylist Karl Wilfert. as for the ferrari i think it was that pinin farina bloke 👍

Beuatiful cars would definitely have to include the Z8. I know everyone and their dog has seen pictures of this thing, but they are nothing like the real thing. I've had the amazing experience of walking around one, one-on-one, and man, are they amazing looking cars.

Adrian von Hooydonk- i love his work. Mostly all modern bmws
Pininfarina- Designer of most ferrari's.
and that one dude who designed the Carrera GT.

its was my belief that Pininfirina is a place, pretty much Ferrari have their design headquarters there as well as alot of other stuff, not a person, maybe im wrong

Pininfarina is a company named after Giuseppe Farina, better known as Pinin Farina.

He was also known as Pinin Farina, creating the company in 1930. He essentially created car design. That's as simple as it can be put.
