I've been playing GT4 for about 3 weeks now, currently having almost 60%

I've loads of money (german touring car cup trick..), and I buy cars not to race with them, some only to cruise and hotlap with em' for fun.

Now, I've noticed a few nice details if you take the view from behind.

Example : the Mercedes SLR's wing goes up if you brake hard.
In a BMW 1 series, (just bought it..) you brake gently and only the lower part of the braking lights start to work. If you just slam the brakes, all the lights will work. Try this, I think it's a great job detailling the cars that much by PD.

You've got other examples of moving parts, special light effects, ... ??

Post em' here.

Cheers, Timothy

The Crossfire has the same wing thing as well. Except it goes down when you slow down, in real life the wings tend to stay up until you push them down.

The Audi Le Mans Concept Car also has this, if you go above the 120 km/h a wing pops up at the back of the car.

Pretty Nifty.

The windscreen wiper on my 787b shakes at high speeds...
I thought that was a nice touch...

The windshield wiper and antenna moved in GT3, but I don't remember any wings coming and going while driving.

Overall I think they've done an amazing job of modeling cars. But there are things in photomode that don't get rendered at high quality. Sometimes lights and mirrors appear as very low quality bitmaps. There are other things as well. And I find it interesting that they modeled the curves of the body quite well, but the wheels are very polygonal instead of "round".

What does bother me, is when i was driving my SLR Mclaren in real it's pretty round, but when driving in the game ti was still pretty poligonal.

Yet in replays it's normal again.. kinda sucks.

And where are the reverse lights?

Well in convertibles theres a driver.

And the driver in the OLD merc leans forward to change gear.

i really like the cadillac cien and the mitsubishi HSC...those cars are really animated so are the toyota PODs

i noticed a bit of pipe lagging/foam on the internal rollcage of the ginetta g4 to stop you bumping your head on the pole

Impreza04

Take it out for a 'photo drive' on Citta di Aria (reversed), and watch how the driver reacts as the tranny is disengaged and the carriage starts to roll down the hill - reaching speeds up to 60mph that is. :D

Only works on the Daimler though, on the Benz he starts to brake. :grumpy:

The Toyota POD is in the game? I've never seen it.

during sharp turns, the driver looks in the direction of the road... try this on any conv/f1 car when there's like a u-turn(try rally d'capri) and you see his head turn 👍

I was racing in the European Championship the other day and noticed on the replay of the le sarthe race that my opponent's Mercedes SL600 had a taillight out (upper left). I thought that was interesting.

The mud flaps on the rally cars... flap.

I love the HSC concept by mitsu with those freaky little spoiler things. It has two flaps on the rear deck which pop up around a corner to add downforce on the inside wheel. They both pop up during braking too. Pretty funky looking.

The Mitsubishi HSC is a fun car, not just to drive but to watch as the spoilers operate like on a jet fighter. But if you look closely, there are a couple of "whisker" vanes that open on either side of the nose when cornering as well. That's a fantastic touch to include something so minor, and a testament to the lengths the PD team went to trying to add as much authenticity as the PS2 would support.

I love watching the driver in convertibles too. Take the Caterham out for a spin.

Another thing that really impressed me is how the mountains are modelled, and not just background images. If you watch a replay on El Capitan from nose/hood view, you'll see that the track is really set in fully 3D mountains that run right to the road. It's breathtaking. The Grand Canyon and Swiss Alps might not, but they're pretty far away, and still real looking.

One thing that greatly impressed me was the realistic turbo lag that they added. Using one of the 350z Gt cars with a stage 4 turbo, the car crawls for about 3 secs, and then the turbo spins up and it's off like a shot. Most games would just have the power on tap constantly.

I think he also looks in the rear view miror turns his head slightly!? 👍

I noticed that the driver in the AC427 crosses then repositions his hands on the wheel!! very cool to watch. (You can see it quite well in the roof view during a replay.)

Yeah nobody cares but the 97 Supra RZ has the wrong 93-96 taillights. They're supposed to be silverish.
