Hello...

For any jears, ( 1994 ) I'm bougth a new ORION 2250 SX Poweramp.

I think it was a good amp for Boom but now , it was to old.

After selling, I'm to realize , the new generations of Power amps, from the most manufacturers, are not so good.

Are the old Car hifi amps better than now ?

Whichsoever new Amp, would You buy for Sub ?

So long
Werner

I don't think amplifier technology has changed much in the last few years. at least compared to how much everything else in audio has.

It is hard to find good car stereo, though.

Car stereo equipment has progressed immensly in the last few years. I have Xtant amplifiers. The X series to be exact. They are very expensive though, about $1000 each. I have the X604 runnin about 600 watts to my mids, tweets and mid-bass drivers and a X1001 runnin 1000 watts to my single 10" sub. These amplifiers are pretty technical and very versitile. Each has crossover modules (they look like little computer chips) that you can interchange to set all your desired crossover points so there is no need to go crazy getting all sorts of different crossovers for your various speakers. This format is extremely usefull. The X1001 pushin the single 10" sub makes it sound like a full powered 12" sub, im very impressed. As far as old amps being better than the newer ones, I say no way. I've been into car audio for the last 12 years and the changes that have been made are very impressive. For example my head unit is an Alpine CDA-7969 and it has the ability to speed up and slow down the sounds coming from each speaker so that all the sound hits your ears at the exact same time!!!! It makes such a difference. It sound like the band is playing right there on the hood of my car. The equalizer on the head unit is digital, so it equalizes your music when it is still 0's and 1's! And if you want to see something really technical go to www.Alpine1.com and check out the F1 Status. It will blow your mind the things it can do. If your just looking for some bump in you trunk go with Alpines line of amplifiers and check into there bass engine technology.
