Does anyone have a pic, or scan or whatever, of the manufacturer family tree that was in a previous issue of CAR Magazine?

It shows a map (like a subway map) of the relationship each car manufacturer has with one another.

I'm not sure of the month of the issue as I can't find it anywhere, but, from memory there was an Evo X Concept and GT-R Concept on the cover with an orange red background.

I guess this would have to be more directed to those living in europe, or those able to buy import magazines.

If anyone could post a pic or link to where I could get one it would be very cool..

Thanks..

I dont have a copy, but I can do my best to name them:

General Motors:
Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn, Buick, Cadillac, Saab, HUMMER, GMC, Holden, Opel, Vauxhall, Suzuki, Daewoo, Isuzu, and a 20% share of Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru).

Ford: Ford, Mercury, Linclon, Mazda, Volvo, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Land Rover

DaimlerChrysler: Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, SMART, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, 20% of Mitsubishi

Toyota: Toyota, Scion, Lexus, Will, Daihatsu

Volkswagen: VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini

BMW: BMW, Rolls-Royce, MINI

Porsche: Porsche, 20% Volkswagen

FIAT SpA: FIAT, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari (only 56%)

Renault: Renault, Nissan, Samsung Motor

Hyundai: Hyundai, Kia

Proton: Proton, Lotus

There are also a gazillion tiny companies that I did not include, as I really have never herd of them, and I have no idea if they are sold in Europe or not. My layout is based on a "map" published by AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE in August 2005. They give information on how much of each company is owned by who, but generally I just threw them under one banner for easy reading. I only noted ownership on Subaru and Ferrari as they are partially owned by their respective companies, but operate independantly.

Great stuff!.. I'm guessing it's the same map as in CAR Magazine.

It would be awesome if you could get a scan or digi cam of it..

Thanks YSSMAN

Subaru is no longer in line with GM. Last I heard, GM sold all of the Subaru shares they had. I think around 10% of it was sold to Toyota.

I'm wondering about the Mitsubishi share the Daimler-Chrysler owned as well. When there was a MMC/Fuso Recall Scandal in Japan, D/C was trying to cut ties with Mitsubishi.

Edit: Yep, Daimler-Chrysler did ditch Mitsubishi. I guess they acquired the controlling share in 2001, but that's around the same time MMC started to suck, so I think they did the right thing to part ways. :D MMC is now under the control of Mitsubishi Group.

I'll give ya the best pic I can take with my old-school digi-cam...

Its a bit out of focus and such, so I apologise. If you want a certain picture of a particular company, let me know...
