Couple of questions;

1. What year is the Terios I have as my Avatar (it would help me when I'm 'shopping' since I highly dislike the new(er) terios, and can't be bothered scrolling past them).

2. Do you think it's a good idea for me to:

A) Sell my Fiesta ('04) and buy a Terios.

B) Keep the Fiesta, and perhaps get a Terios once I've been driving for a short while?

Thankfully, a Terios has a 1.3 Engine so Insurance will be merely insane, as opposed to astronomical. :D

You're Terios in your avatar is a 1997-1999 model.

What Joey said. Though I'd have been tempted to suggest you be less lazy and do that particular bit of research yourself - there have only been two generations of Terios so it's not that difficult to figure out...

It depends on why you want a Terios. There's little wrong with them per se, but as a device for transporting you about the place the Fiesta will be a much better vehicle. Likely cheaper to insure, better on fuel, quicker, safer, more stable, better handling and quieter.

However, if you intend to indulge in some amateur off-roading the Fiesta is next to useless, whereas the Terios (like the Suzuki Jimny) is surprisingly good, and some companies even do off-roading upgrade kits like suspension lift bits, bigger tyres, sump guards and the like.

This bit depends on how old you are. Terios prices are quite low for the age you're looking at and so on purchase price alone you'd probably make a few grand selling the Fiesta and buying a cheaper Terios, which would cover plenty of fuel and some insurance. But insurance is still going to be a bit steeper (again, there's some research for you to do) and if you're not going to get some use off-road in the Terios, then you may just be better off sticking with the Fiesta for now.

Worth also noting that if you do take a Terios off-road, you'd be wise to budget for repairs etc. And if you don't have a decent job, you may find that costs rapidly stack up.

First off, the shape of Terios I like comes with a few different faces, so I wasn't quite sure what year the one I like was in that sense.

Anyway, thanks for your advice. I wasn't planning on taking it off-roading. It was mainly because a) I like the look of it and b) it would suit me and my lifestyle/hobbies (fishing etc.). Based on all that you've said though, I think I'll follow option B), and stick with the Fiesta, seeing as how it's generally a better car, especially for someone my age.

Thank You for helping.
Zm.
