Hello. Is anybody think about what car setting, like tyre type, simulation mode and so on, are closest to real car? What track times and on what settings is more realistic to track times raced on same tracks on real car? Thanks.

N2 are the most realistic as far as times go.

Simulation Mode Duh name gives it away .. as for TC ABS Ect you would turn them off at a track for more fun and speed

N2 would be most realistic if you are trying to make a stock economy based car handle like it would. For the most sporty cars that come with sportier tires, n3 woudl be the ones. For time attack cars, usually one of the s tires works.

Keep in mind that you can probably get a better time in gt4 than you would in real life. In a game you have no fear of crashing, so you don't hold back whatsoever. In real life drivers drive more conservatively, even if it is just a tiny bit less.

sweeet. I was hoping they would just equip the cars with tires closest to stock but giving us a list is almost as good. but if they do the same for GT5 thats gonna be a big list.

There is no such thing as realistic setting in GT5P.

While N2 tires might be correct for a suzuki swift, I doubt the F430 use N2 tires in real life. May be GTR's runflat is really that crappy, I doubt the GTR had "N2" level tire grip too.

Almost all ABS equipped cars have an undefeatable ABS system (I guess unless you take the fuse off your ABS), and most of them have an undefeatable form of EBD on them.

In the case of cars like F430's manettino system, there are driver aids like E-Diff, ABS, ESP, adaptive damping and shift mapping which 99.99999999999999% is not part of GT5's code. Even with the manettino set to CST (meaning almost everyting off) the ABS and EBD will still be active. There are many other cars like the F430, such as the GTR or M3 which have so many driver selectable programs which 99.99999999999999% is not part of the games simulation.

IMO, trying to match a cars time to actual real life lap time by altering its grip with tire grade is like throwing a dart on the wall and then paint a target over it.

Sure?

In the game the F430 is blocked at 'race' mode, no variable programs. I think all cars with selectable programs IRL are programed with the 'sport mode/race' on mind.

You're right about the tires, read the Polyphony's list posted by maskrider. There's another factor, the age of the car, a default sports tire from a '92 car has less grip than a default sports tire from '07.

I think we could or should change electronics systems in real time.
IMO f430 is in 4th mode (race+cst on) and i dislike it.

Yeah it is set in race mode but you can't select them, so the real car by default will have ABS, ESP, EBD and TC. In other words if you are playing GT5P with F430 without using ABS, ESP, EBD and TC; then it is far from the so called "realism".

When it comes to lap times, I think it would be best to cater it to each individual driver.

For example, we know the Top Gear test track will be in GT5. Chances are very good that the Zonda F will be in the game. So, you'd want to set up the car with whatever settings allow you personally to pull a 1:18.4 lap time. Then, in order to improve your driving with the car, you'd change something, something minor.. change tires by one setting to slow you down a bit, then practice until you can pull a 1:18.4 again. Keep doing so until you can pull a 1:18.4 using whatever settings are generally considered to be "real" by the majority.

I bring this up because I'm not the best driver out there... I already know that I'm not going to be able to pull a 1:18.4 in a Zonda F using N2 tires in Simulation mode. But that doesn't stop me from wanting a batch of settings that will let me do it. (Bear in mind of course that I'm not all that bad, I'm just not near as good as the top drivers we have here on GTP).
