Irl, or even in GT5, using tyres like comforts or sports I.E. tyres with threads, if you make them go "bald" so to speak with excessive wheel-spin handbrake turns etc things that make tyres go bald, wouldn't that make the tyre effectively become slicks?

Yes and no. Yes, they'd have a slick tread so the outright grip in the dry would improve. No, because they'd be about 0.5mm of rubber on top of the canvas inner trying to rip itself off, rather than 10mm of rubber moving about and transferring heat.

So basically a duck on ice.

Even if it was slick bald, it's still a compound closer to a bowling ball than a racing tire, so very little, if any, improvement in grip.

Would that work too in a bicycle? :sly:

I've got another question, flappy paddle gear boxes, is there a clutch needed, or do you just flap away? If they do, how do they start the car without jerking forwards, unlike a stick shift where you can put it in neutral?

Flappy paddles can select neutral, there is a clutch but it's computer controlled, and it may actually actuate the clutch as you slow to a certain speed so it won't kill the engine.
