I had no better way to describe it.
I noticed that in the tuning screen after you enter the car's tuning section,
That it has the ft-lb's and hp (if im not mistaking) and the shows that it gets high but thenit drops..so i guess it affects on the car, so how can i get it high again

That is your torque curve and Hp readings. They tend to drop off in most cars in the higher rev range as the engine produces its peak power and torque at a lower rpm than the rev limiter is set at.

Thats the car's powerband. You cant change it.

Click the 'current performance' tab, and it will tell you max HP @ " " RPM

so if it says max hp: 300 @ 5,000 rpm, you are going to want to shift your car at 5k, because if you ring it out more than that, you are going slower.

What if your torque is still higher from 5000rpm to 7000rpm than at 3500rpm where it would go if you changed gear, is it not better to stay in gear till red line then?

How come I win a lot of races online against very good drivers and I'm using automatic which takes every car to red line against them using manual? (Same car and PP)

I assume you mean rev limiter when you said redline? to answer that question, yes, but most cars have the rev limiter extend past the peak torque output so it's almost always better to shift just before you hit the limiter. The redline indicates the range of the engine's peak power output; shifting anywhere in the redline should result in a good upshift. Even so it would make little difference on a track if you shift at 7000 rpms vs 7200 rpms. Most torque curves slowly decline so in reality you're only loosing a negligible amount of power.

to answer your second question: maybe you're very good or the other players are worse than you? Are your opponents using an H pattern shifter? it's slower to shift with an H pattern shifter. the AT in gt5 optimizes each shift so it shifts at the best possible moment, not at the rev limiter.

so i can see the current tourqe and HP but my question is can i make it be as powerful as it was before the decend of the hp and tourqe?

XD yeah well then i guess the answer is no..
loved the comment tough

It doesn't though!

It shifts at the red line or further on every single car!

Okay, there seems to be some basic misunderstanding of either of what the graph shows, or of basic engine function.

The graph shows how power (hp) and torque (lbft) are affected by the speed (in revolutions) of the engine. It doesn't represent any kind of problem with the car, it simply shows how the engine works:
  • As the engine spins slowly, when you aren't going anywhere, it doesn't make that much power. It probably doesn't make that much torque either (unless it's electric)
  • As the engine spins faster, it (usually) gains torque until it reaches the peak and then it gains power until it reaches the peak.
  • After the peak of each of power and torque is reached it will drop away some, so spinning the engine faster doesn't result in more power or torque.
The car's power and torque are rated as the peak they can deliver at the engine speed they can deliver them - such as 195hp @ 6,500rpm and 202lbft @ 3,500rpm. This is because they only deliver the most power or torque at those engine speeds. That's how engines work - or at least how they deliver their power.

blahblahblahyaddayaddayadda...That's how engines work - or at least how they deliver their power.
You should definitely do a write up on the differences between torque and horsepower. Nicely done.

thank you very much!
but then how come my R8 5.2 use to be so good and yesterday i played with it on seasonal events and it was just not fun and horrible to drive with

I don't know. What did you do to it? That kind of information would help in diagnosing a problem...

Maybe you've changed a setting you shouldn't have. Maybe someone's been on your PS3 and fiddled about with it. I'd suggest going into Settings and clicking "Settings Sheet" and pick a sheet with default settings (try "B" or "C"). That'll return the car to stock settings (plus any modifications you've bought) and also tell you what the differences in settings are.
