I'm trying to purchase as few cars as possible, as I did in GT3. Does anyone have a list of mandatory purchases? It looks like you have to buy a Benz for the Silver Arrow race again, for instance.

Is there a way to do the Beginner Sport Truck race without buying a truck?

...umm.. like ALL of the ones that are asked for in the company car races thingy...

like in nissan, the Z challenge
gotta have a Z (350z, 300zx, 280z, and whatnot)

Well, I think he means for all the cars he has to buy. I think you can win some manufacturer races without buying a Z.

I think I understand what you're trying to do. That was my plan too, at first. Then I started buying used cars all the time.
'Ooh! A Lotus Carlton!'
'A TVR V8S!'
'A TVR Cerbera Speed Six in reflex spice!'
'Finally, the 510 showed up!'

Anyway, just try looking in the car requirements for different races. You'll then be able to figure out what cars you can use for multiple races. I'll use the Mercedes Silver Arrow race as an example. You could just buy a CLK55 or an SLK230 or something. However, there is also an SL-only race. Why not buy an SL(I got an SL65) and use it for both races?

I got an Opel Speedster for the one-make race, but then I realized I could also use it for the Schwarzwald Liga-A race in the Euro hall.

Did the same with a new MK V Golf GTI. Used it for the GTI one-make race, then turned around and used it for the Hot Hatch race in Euro hall. Turns out it's eligible for Schwarzwald Liga-A, as well.

I bought a TVR Cerbera Speed 12(didn't realize it was a prize car), and I used it for the one-make as well as the British GT race in Euro hall.

I used my Cadillac Cien for the race of NA Sports, then used it for the El Capitan Enduro.

Lastly, I took the Toyota Minolta car I won from the El Capitan Enduro and won the GT World Chapionship, then used it for Like the Wind in Extreme hall. Might use it for an Enduro or two this weekend, when I have time.

In the Shelby one make races, I think you'll have to buy a Cobra or a Series 1. Same for the Lotus Elise races. There are a bunch of others that I can't think of right now. Maybe someone can make list .

Although I can't help, I would say that what you're doing is pointless. Where's the fun in doing that? You can't get all the cool cars, like a CV8 Holden Monaro.

I can tell you that I used that little Cobra 427 for both the Classics race and the Compact. I was too lazt to change cars. True, a 427 is kinda unsporting versus a Vitz, but if you just gotta win....

That said, if you're trying to do it with the fewest cars possible, then either you got too much time on your hands or are just a cheapskate that is missing out on all that GT4 has to offer. Besides, considering the sheer number of one-make races... my gawd!

Separate out "fun" from "challenging" and you might figure out why I'm doing it (along with quite a few others who play the game). For me, "fun" is often not what many would call instant gratification, but overall satisfaction of achievement. I don't really consider it fun to get all of the gold licenses but it sure is satisfying and enjoyable AFTER I get a gold, but not usually during my quest for the elusive trophy.

I think the answer to this question has been done already.
Someone here, I think Famine(?) created this list of the mode races, I've added the prize cars to it. You can see which cars are needed to run a series and all the prize cars.

Good luck.

buy a aston martin vantage you can use it in some of the races but the main reason is that its just a super car (you can get it on day 8 in the used car lot 1)

I know for sure that you MUST buy at least:

Either Daihatsu Midget.
Any Suzuki Kei car.
Any "sport" truck.

I'm trying a similar thing and mapping it out as I go.

I didn't buy a mercedes to do the Silver Arrow race. I raced with my first car i bought (Bmw M3 CSL) in the Schwarzwaldliga B and won a Mercedes AMG 190E 2.5 Evo II. With that one i raced and won the Clk touring Car. I would say it depends which races you take on with your car...

I'm trying the same thing, I dont like racing the same race more than once (just to get money, and I want to spend as little as possible on buying cars. What I do is browse through the prize car list and see if i can win a car i need to race and work my way backwards from there.

I essentially made the exact same thread a month ago:

One Make Races - how many cars do you need to buy?

Nice to see this thread actually got some replies.

You can't win any trucks that can enter the sport truck race. You can't win an Elise to enter that race. I think there are several manufacturer races that you will need to buy cars for.

Im trying to do the same thing, but for this precise reason. If I spend as little money as possible on cars that I need to complete races, then there's more left over to spend on cars I don't need like the ASLs or Holdens. Plus, I dont think anyone can get enough Honda S500s in Elephant Grey!

I think you are required to buy more cars on GT4, as you get more useless crap on this game than on GT3.

Buy a Chevrolet SSR to race for the truck AND the convertiable race! Two birds with $33,000. :)

What's a 510?

Legendary Datsun/Nissan model also called Bluebird and 1300/1400/1600, built 1968-1972. They built saloon, coupe and wagon versions. Very popular in the USA and Oz for modifying, successful for many years on circuits. Rather rare here in the UK.

Yeah. There's a roadgoing version of the Datsun 510 and a rally car available. The road car can be bought in the historical lot(I've bought three so far :dopey: ), and I think the rally car is a prize car.

Nissan March, required in the manufacturers race ( excellent in the compact models race too )

An Audi A3 Will come in handy, not only for the one make race but also in the German Hot Hatch and the Shwarzwald Liga. It will also get you through the earlier series with ease.

keep in mind though that you´ll have to buy/win EVERY car in the game to unlock them for arcade mode ;)

In that case, why don't you have "fun" by coming up with this list on your own instead of looking for the "instant gratification" of having someone else do it and you just read the results of their work?
