So far we don't know much about GT5 tunning features however it has been announced several times and proved that cars will have swappable body kits parts as :
-hood
-bumpers
-spoilers
-wheels
-steering wheel
-decals
-exhausts
etc...
Tuned special cars as the Evo IX,X and the Clio are already a good glimpse of what we should expect visually speaking

However we didn't have any other informations outside of the Quick Tune Setting and especially on the engines modifications.

So do you expect tunning to be just slightly above GT4's one or do you see it reaching in a way Forza's level ?

Well nothing was confirmed, but i find it quite interesting.
GTHD also had body kits (front/heck spoiler and the Cappuccino even had a black, maybe carbon, hood). Maybe you wont be able to choose and change everything, but this could be an indication of something like a race modification. Combined with a livery editor this would seriously own.

Since that was one of the Main ideas for GTHD, im think it might happen and thats one of the features im waiting mostly from this game, so i Hope the modifications at the level of Forza 1, i'll be Extremely Happy with that.(Having Livery Editor too) 👍

P.D: I know im asking for too much, but i can dream, right?

Personally, I wouldn't mind fiddling with cam timing, ignition, A/F ratio, compression etc.. ;)

To me, its a must. I dont think it will over shadow, another thing in the list for GTHD, was an online garage, hopefully there will be an auction house like in forza, because it will give GT a more next gen feel and will mean more personality in cars, afterall I don't think its all about being as realistic as possible to the PD team but also to make the game as fun as possible, visual modifications is just simply a must, it makes online feel that much better when you cross the line first, I hope most of the things planed for HD gets in.

As long as the body modifications have real permormance benifits, it will be great. I beg you PD, no rice please! The cars should not look out of place at any racetrack.

I really think that modification will be excellent in GT5. The Zele front bumper on the Skyline Coupe Tuned and visual brake upgrades and carbon hood hints at an amazing feature. Also the wheels look amazing, the Volks on the Clio look amazing.

Well if they do it right, the "rice"(AKA: non-race parts) will have a negative aerodynamic effect.

I think it's a possibility.

On my copy of Burnout 3, there was a demo of Need for Speed: Underground 2. In that game, you could modify many aspects of your car... front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rims, colouring, all kinds of stuff.

But in the demo, you don't get limitless customization options - you only get one or two predetermined designs on the one car in the demo. This was to show the capabilities of the modding feature, and just how much you can change your car. Basically a "demo" for the customization feature... demo = predetermined designs, full version = full mod-ability.

I think it could well be the case for GT5, too... well, I hope so.

Viper ACR, here I come! 👍

Interesting... never really thought of this...

Yeah, this list came right before the EU launch of GT5P.
Im still disappointed that theyve cut out the Peugeots and the RE-Amemyia RX-7. 8(

I never noticed the "light tuned" and "full tuned" stuff though, or at least i totally forgot it.

Theres a heavy tuned and a light tuned rx7, I reckon one had slight body modifications and the other much bigger, why would PD put avariety of differntly tuned cars on GT5, In my eyes its just a sign that body modifactions are inevitably things that we will be able to do ourselves. And another thing is there any other reason for them to model body parts separately, other than, falling parts on the track for damage. ?

I hope the minimum we get is rims that we can buy and to choose the inches... so it also must have changes to your car performance...

I don´t like that rim thing in GT4 very much because the graphics wasn´t really good to enjoy your new rims... I never used that in GT4... but with the GT5 graphics that will kick ass... (for me... for some others the graphics can be mindblowing in GT4)

A livery editor and tuning parts would blow off everything... than we got to do with the game for less 2 years... It´s great if you can race with your own designed car online...

I remember back in GT1 - that you could chose to "Racing Modify" most cars...

I hope that this sort of feature is available - but in a much more configurable way...

I would like to be able to take my Stock car - and turn it into the "LM edition" car that is also purchaseable - instead of having to buy 2 cars...

i.e. if you have the cash - then you buy the LM edition... if not - then you buy the stock version and over time build it into the LM Edition (RPG style)

For this to work - there needs to be more info available when purchasing stuff... at the moment you get told what it does - I want the figures...

i.e. if I think about putting a splitter on the front - I want to know how much downforce it can provide - and how it will change the Drag Coefficient of the car... and what that will do to my 0-60 time, grip levels and top speed...

C.

About Racing Modification, i dont know but i guess that was Ok in 1997, but its tume to do serious Aerodynamic Modifications, Front Bumper, rear diffusor, etc, Although with the Racing Modification, i will be really Happy.

And, who doesnt love to see the Small R in a box with the name of your car while racing, it makes you feel like a race car owner :D

Everyone here seems to forget that Polyphony Digital is one of the aero kit designer for Amuse, Spoon, and Nismo. And they got a lot of kick ass design since GT3, so I wont be surprise if car customization is in. Hell if they even add the widebody kit similar to GT cappuccino and every tuner in the game it will surpass what forza had offer.

I only want body kits if they are.
A. functional like the forza down force body kits in forza 2
B. Wide body kits that will actually widen stance of car to allow wider tires for more grip or just wider stance for better grip.

Same as spoilers i would only use them if functional. which i feel in GT5P they all are or less this changes or there are only certain cars that can be bought tuned which will be a bummer.

I say that because the Rx7 FD is def more beautiful then the FC but i fell in love with Rotary's when i bought my first FC so i would love to make it as competitive with the FD as far as cornering.

sorry to go off topic but i saw your PSN and my last name is Miller and i love the RX-7. my fav though is the Spirit R 👍

Well yes it is my last name as well and i love also share you love for the Rx-7 Spirit R considering it is my favorite as well lol. I also just love rotary's in general. Other then the Rx-7 i would love a Rx-3 which i wish they would put more of the RX family in GT5. I know it is not the only rotary but it be nice if there was more of the RX family. My opinion i guess though.
