The new HEMIs arent as good as the old ones. My dad has an 04' Ram and it is ok but i think he should take it out and try to put in the older HEMI, then it would be awsome. but i do agree that the crossfire needs more power

IS300 I guess. NSX for sure, although i dont think it needs some massive ungodly number like 550. 350 would do fine. But I still say the the IS430 will lose a lot of its feel because of the massive engine upfront.

Yes it gained SOO much weight from a steel engine to an all aluminum engine. Weight difference 96 lbs.

IS430 = 3351 lbs
IS300 = 3255 lbs

There is a shop in SoCal that did just that with an updated (EFI, coil-over-plugs, etc....) and the new Hemi is tuned VERY mild from the factory, there are shops getting 500+ out of them with fairly mild mods and without power adders(turbo/supercharger/nos/etc....)

:odd: You're kidding, right? C5s get the same type of milage an M3 or 996 does.

Better, actually.

Z06 23/37
M3 19/31
996 21/34 (and that's just your regular ol' Carrera; the Turbo is 18/29)

Pretty good for a 346c.i. pushrod V8 pushing out 405hp. :cool:

NA engines in general will produce better gas mileage when that is the goal. I asked some Chevy 5.7L LS1 owners and they said their cars are hardly any bit gas guzzlers, but I didn't gather any numbers. Z06 uses an LS6, so the mileage shouldn't be much different from LS1. That's what makes it so funny when import guys try to rag on domestics for being gas guzzlers when nowadays that is clearly not the case on a majority of American naturally aspirated muscle engines. Some cars, especially some Audis for example produce amazing gas mileage numbers while using turbos and that is commendable IMO.

Ford does produce a fair amount of their cars in Mexico, I think that includes the Focus and I know Futura will be produced there, but I'm still pretty sure most if not all MN12s were produced at the Lorain plant in Ohio (I know mine was...).

It was interesting when I read that with the 276hp Supra, that it was more like 320 horsepower. I have the old game "The Need for Speed SE." None of the new stuff (that my computer can't handle). But the first NFS as a special edition. Anyhow, the game rated the Toyota Supra at 319, maybe 320 horsepower. And the Acura (not Honda in the game) NSX at 276 when GTs 2 and 3 had the American NSX rated at 289 horsepower. Maybe some cars are powerful, but are restricted. Maybe also you can imagine if the JGTC race cars were unleashed from their air restrictions, the McLaren F1 would be a podium contender almost all the time, granted that impressive drivers are racing it.

And call me crazy but, why not take the newer Honda Accords, put in a 260hp motor, and let them loose in touring car, club racing, and of course, the street... and to me, I like the 2-door Accords of now better, even though the lights at the back resemble a Mercedes than a Honda...

I'd still rather see them sell a turbo IS300, but I suppose an IS430 is cool too. I just think it's going to throw off the balance of the car with a v8. Oh well.

I didn't realize how light-weight the GS430 v8 was. Damn..nevermind what I said before. :)

Well I know for a fact that UK Supra's have more horsepower than their Japanese counterparts.

Most V8 engines aren't very heavy unless they have excessive displacement. Usually, a V8 will weigh the same as a turbo inline 4 when you factor in the weight of all the crap for the turbo.

That's why Super Coupes are the heaviest Thunderbirds even over their 5.0L and 4.6L V8 counterparts--the supercharger equipment such as the s/c itself, and the intercooler and piping + the 3.8L V6 weighs more than that 'little bit' of extra engine.

American sports cars are often heavier than European and Japanese sports cars, no doubt about that, but the 'big heavy ass V8 engines' aren't the culprit, especially since alluminum is much more common these days, the weight is elsewhere in the cars. Just thought I should clear up that misconception.

I don't like anything over 8 cylinders though... it's just usually too much rotational mass and too many moving parts!

Here is a funny point...

PLEASE don't say that the Cadillac Sixteen needs more HPs! if that's the case, they can make the 16 a damned BMW M1. Either that, or make it a luxury drag racer.
