I was just wondering if anyone knew which cars had continuously variable transmissions in them, the only one I know of right now is the Mazda DEMIO Sport '10, and I got to admit I was having fun with it.

The '12 Toyota Vitz F, '09 Honda Insight LS, the Prius, and I believe the '01 Honda Fit. There are a handful more I can't remember. It's nice having maximum torque at all times, but the sound puts me to sleep and it's a bit harder to gauge braking points when all you have to go by is your speed and not what gear you need.

Does the Prius TC still have a CVT? That was the one thing I hated about the car in GT5.

Sure, it handled well, was reasonably quick and actually looked alright. But the CVT drone was very annoying.

I also couldn't help but notice hat the car also had shift paddles on the wheel, making me think the car is supposed to have a proper gearbox.

It still has the CVT unfortunately, I think it's a great car but the sound was unbearable for any longer races.

From memory the GT by Citroen Concept has a CVT or was electric, not too sure as the last time I used that car was for credit grinding on GT PSP.

Yeah the GT by Citroen was electric, and I found a few more like the Honda Fit W '01 and the INSIGHT LS '09 but nothing more powerfull and fun, yet, than the Mazda DEMIO SPORT (274HP!! wow)

The '10 Demio is a great car, and probably the best CVT-equipped car in the game. I ran a 2:41.3 at Suzuka with a stock one on Sport Hard tires. I tested the '09 Insight and was over 5 seconds slower. The '12 Vitz was half a second slower than the Insight. I haven't tried the Prius or Fit yet.

The coolest thing about the Insight is that it has 123 ft-lbs @ 1000 rpm vs. the Demio's 103 @ 4000, but it's also 400 lbs heavier :/

The Demio Sport is great, was comparing it today to the Swift Sport 07 and some other car, did it one a Matterhorn variant, one with the long uphill at the start, constant torque gave it a noticeable advantage. Upgraded it a bit after but left the CVT.

I plan on doing a comparison with the Demio with and without the CVT.

Side note, I find myself counting gears in my head when driving electrics like the Fisker and Tesla, they are quiet so it's easy unlike the constant hum of the CVTs, anybody else does this?

Rather irritatingly, the same problem exists with the Demio. I literally despise CVTs, so when I saw that it had paddles attached to the wheel, I thought I'd change to manual. Of course, the car is locked to automatic, so I had to spend Cr. 5,000 to install the 5-speed box. It cost me Cr. 5,000 to perform the equivalent to what would be in the real car, pressing a button to change to manual. :grumpy:

Installing the Racing Transmission on the Demio makes it a 5-speed. Installing it on the Vitz makes it a 7-speed.

A 7-speed Vitz? According to Toyota USA's website, the new Yaris can be had in either a 5MT or 4AT. In Japan it has CVT, and the diesel has a 6MT. Why would PD make it a 7MT?

The Vitz came with a "7 speed" CVT, the old one that was in GT5, the '07. Don't think the '12 has it
