I know there have been threads on cars collecting dirt before but having just done the FGT seasonal at HSR, I can safely and without doubt say cars do collect dirt and the car wash obviously cleans it off. Rear wing and sidepods. Photographic proof below sorry for the quality old tv and my camera phone.

you can't possibly expect anyone to notice dirt on that car with the image being such low quality
 
I think the last sentence in the op, sums it up better than any of us.
 
I'm sorry. But I see no difference. I'll take your word for it though. Curious to know if it effects the aerodynamics (drag) at all.
 
By all means go try it yourselves, We cant all have capture cards and whatnot so its the best I can come up with im sorry to say but I thought it deserved posting.
 
I'll be pleased if it is the case. I'd like to know my 4 hour Nurb races are leaving a mark.
 
i left my GT-One collecting dust for months, and it has a slight grey-ish color from the side pod to the read wing

I know the car wash would clean it up, the title itself self explanatory, right?
 
Was that photo taken with a calculator?
 
I have to say OP is correct with his observation. When I did the fgt nurburgring mine was so dirty I had to go to the car wash.
 
haha there are 1000 threads open about the new patch.... beatyfull all peoples creating threads and trying to finde something "new" in the patch

Your point being what exactly I saw something in game that seemed to be much better than before the update and made a thread about it, Perhaps I am just mistaken hence why I put at the bottom of my OP for the mods to get rid of the thread if its not needed.

I wasn't paying too much attention till I noticed the car was down on power took it to GTAuto and noticed what looked like an improved feature so I just thought I would take it there before and after the carwash to make it more comparable.

Perhaps I goofed but anyone reading who has a capture card or something I would be grateful if you want to put this to the test.
 
I'm going to back the OP here, not on the basis of the grainy photos, but for the fact I just went and had a look for myself. Big difference in the before and after appearance of the car
 
Would be great if anyone could take a car with dirt to photomode and upload the pictures.
 
I remember the cars getting dirty before the 2.0 update, so this isn't new.
 
i never use the car wash, it seems like some kind of gimmick to me

It was ridiculously slow to accumulate, though. This looks like that may have changed.

It's not a gimmick. Cars look cleaner afterwards, that's a gimmick?

A gimmick is the Kinect steering wheel. It does everything for you and you pay the money to have good ol' unsatisfying movements of the arms.

It was almost pointless before, according to other people, because your car would get cleaned after you get an oil change or anything else in GT Auto. Like Griffith500 said, it was weak compared to what it's like now.

At one point we were told that vids/pics could be uploaded to Utube, but, that never panned out

Ah but see there in lies the problem PD are usually late on things I say usually, They tend 2 give us only partially the things we want to spend our money on E.g Spa Francochams and they give us what we don't want more Japanese cars, Though I cant really see any point of if we had a youtube uploader that we could film our cars being washed then again PD have given us less useful things in the past, Would have come in quite handy had it been an option.
 
The car wash worked before spec 2. These were taken before and after a carwash at the same point on the track:
