It started when I read a New Yorker review of a Timothy Leary biography. One thing led to another and I discover Cary Grant had taken LSD several times, under a doctors supervision (it was legal at that time.)
I'm sharing the link which describes his experience, in Grant's own words. Its remarkable that this famous actor who always seemed likeable to me, can maintain the same ease and charm when talking about something so heavy. (In complete contrast, there was a local tv story recently about a fast food worker caught after slipping pot into a law enforcement officers hamburger. While being interviewed later on camera, the officer wept while recalling the apparent trauma of being high on pot.)

p.s. timothy leary's life was actually depressing to read about. for all the surface charm he had a lot of disturbng things connected to him.
