Can any of you Virtual Gearheads help me out with the tunning of this ride? My very 1st R/C car was a scaled model of this ride, so I figured I'd buy it on the game and see how much I can get out of it. I'm assuming it's not a candy-colored lemon......but if it is not worth the time, please feel free to tell me so
B.T.W. this is easily the BEST site I have found on GT, and all the feedback you give to one another is awsome!

Hey Element, welcome to the site. It is truly one of the best overall GT communities on the web.
I personally tend to lend setting advise to eliminate what your specific need requires. A general "good setup" doesn't always work the best for everyone. In regards to the Castrol Supra, in my opinion it is by far the best of the JGTC 500 cars. PD seems to be a little bias with this car, making it awesome. If you'll post the area of tuning you need help with with your current settings and a brief description of what the problem is and what you need, I'll help the best I can.

Actually, I haven't touched this bad boy at all. I didn't want to screw it up and wind up Ice skating on 4 tires across the track...lol

any tuning that you have on this ride would be great. Also let me add that I race against my friend and he uses the V-spec Skyline against my Lancer and blows my doors off. But I figured that I would try this Supra against his Skyline. Plus the body style of the Supra is just totally pimped out!

Thanks for any input.

I'll have to get back with you tonight or tomorrow with settings. My Castrol Supra is tuned with a stage3 turbo when I was running a couple of LMP races for Aspecs in the GTWC, GTAS, and World Circuit Tours. It is pretty awesome.

Well, to my surprise I made very few changes to the car. Which really isn't much of a surprise, considering how great the car is. The only changes were as follows:

Springs: default
Ride Height: default
Bound: 7/7 (mostly adjusted to suit the roughness of the track)
Rebound: 7/7 (also adjusted to suit track. No odd handling to sort out with varying bound to rebound settings)
Toe: default
Camber: 2.7/1.5 (the only major tweak)
LSD: 20/40/20 (raise in initial helps to engage LSD sooner. The default 20 on decel effect is loose on corner entry which suits my driving style. If you like a smoother entry raise to 23)
Downforce: Max front and rear (the default is at minimum. No handling quirks that required uneven df settings)
Brakes: 4/4 (again no quirks that require uneven settings)

The default gearbox settings worked well with the 691 horses with stage 3 turbo. So gear ratio will need tweaking for the stock horsepower. I don't think the tranny trick would be necessary for this great car. An adjustment to the final drive to suit the track should suffice.

Excellent feedback on this man, thanks a million!! Oh by the way, which in your opinion is the better ride of the Supras? the Woodone 2003 or the Tom 2001?
If there is no major difference in the 2 then I will stick with my 2001...I just wanna get the most bang outta my 1.3 Million. Thanks for the info, I'm glad I found this website!

No help there man. I haven't bought the Woodone. I used the Castrol in GT3 and GT4. Not long ago I actually won several races at the Grand Turismo Allstars, Gran Turismo World Championships, and World Circuit Tours. All three of those are LMP lineups ie:Minolta, Sauber C9, Audi R8, etc. The Castrol is an awesome car. Good balance, hence the minimal required tuning.

Have fun,

JParker
