What's the deal with this car? how come every one likes it soooo much? I mean it's a good overall car and such but is it really that great? Also i've noticed that in the cinematics of the games that this car is shown a lot, it's even the only car shown in the ending movie 1 in arcade mode. Is this is producers favorite car too?
 
It's fairly well-setup (not phenominal, but good), but I think it mainly has to do with the current "cult" of loving any car made in Japan...

:D It's pretty common knowledge that the developers of the game "PD" were a little biased towards the Japanese makes & I don't begrudge them a bit. They came up with a superior game, they can slant it any way they want.
Check the records for Front Engine Rear Wheel Drive (FR) at places like GT3Times or Racing Line & ALMOST without exception you'll see one of the two Supra JGTC cars @ the top. (They're identical except for Livery I believe.)...UB57

Nononononononoo.

Toyota is the one and only. We just got our 5th Toyota in real life :D.

So far we've had:
1989 Carina II
1993 Carina E (still have)
1987 Corolla
1990 Corolla
1999 Corolla (this one we just got)
 
I really dont understand this either. It seems every 2nd day theres a new member with that one Castrol Supra avatar.


Its a good car and all. I dont see how its better than any other JGTC though.
 
well out of the jgtc my favourit is the penziol or arta nsx i dont really know y the supra is so popular but it is fairly good
 
FTO LM ownz all the Supras... AWD, just as light, and more power... I won one in the Dream Car championship in Professional, then they gave me another one for Polyphony Digital Cup.

Well FTO LM isn't JGTC car and I remember it being a bit more powerful.
 
The Supra's (Toms' and SARD) are the exact same, and they're the two fastest FR cars in the game,.. hand's down.

Next would be the Honda S2000 LM (Japanese again) with the Viper Oreca a close third.
 
I'm not at all convinced that the C5R is quicker than the ORECA Viper, but RER, I wonder where you would put a well-driven and well-setup Gillet?
 
The Vertigo properly setup will whoop some competition. I would have to place that car in the top five of FR cars IMO.
 
I'd put the Gillet directly in between the Speed 12 and Viper.,..... but shoot, you gotta toss the RX-7 in there somewhere too.

1) Supra's
2) Honda S2000
3) Viper Oreca
4) Calsonic Skyline
5) Gillet Vertigo
6) TVR 12 / RX-7 LM
8) C5R/Esperante
10) Pennzoil

Now these will vary depending on the track, but I think if you took an overal, it would ork out like that.

Yeah,.... I havent been racing lately. I bought a house and have had some other R/L stuff goin on,....and my PS/2 time as of recently has been dominated by Tiger Woods '03. I figure this stint could last as long as a month. Then I'll be back into true form :D Thanx for noticing though :cheers: :)

I disagree there. IMO the Tom's has slightly better handling, and the SARD has slightly better speed.

But I will agree with Red Eye on this one...THEY ARE FAST!!

Starting with the initial setup the gearing is actually different although they can be modified to be exactly the same. So to start out they are NOT....close but not exactly. :) (Not just smart..it's just info.)

Which do you think has the better handling the Tom's or the SARD? (this has potential to be a poll)
 
Because of my driving style I use the :bowdown: DENSO Sard hands down. I have a best friend who uses the Castrol all the time and the two of us have had the best battles ever seen. We have been fighting this battle for over a year now. We even offer a $50 reward to anyone (team of two) at our job to beat us using the JGTC class with no cheats switching drivers in the pits on a 50 lap plus race. No takers so far.:D
 
Tell you what...if these cars are offered on GT4 I'll take you on in my Castrol vs your SARD online. (no money bet please...I barely make enough money to eat on :( )

We'll just go for brags and praises!!👍
 
That's a deal (I couldn't for money anyway. I have twin two year old girls that take every dime I get ..... except what I'm saving for GT4:lol: ). Glad to see a fellow racer who enjoys it for the sport and pride in the car.

Not necessarly just the car, but the thrill of the race as well. I need some serious competition in an actual person and not just an AI opponent. See you ONLINE.
