OK then. Caterhams have been a common site at track days since the first Cat Seven left the factory floor. Therefore I would like to propose the next casual event for GT4:

The Car: Just your everyday Cat7. Open to everyone. N1-3 Tyres

The circuits (Subject to change):

Motorland Reverse (Test Circuit, not for championship. Not compulsory to enter)
Autumn Rimg Mini (Test Circuit, not for championship. Not compulsory to enter)

Tsukuba
Nurburgring
Circuit de La Sarthe I
Tsukuba Wet




Rules

Two wheels on the Circuit at all times (ripple strips are not a part of the circuit. Exceptions are Caracciola Karussell and Schwalbenschwanz at the 'Ring)

Races last 30 minutes of the GT mode Timetrial for the week's race. Drivers can drive for less than this time, but the organisers recommend that drivers drive for the whole session.

Testing sessions last for a MAXIMUM of 1.5 hours circuit time, with a total of 250 miles permitted over the testing Season. Testing is NON-COMPULSORY.

No TCS or ASM. These are CATERHAMS people!

Circuit times to me via PM before the end of each week.

The Car in each class that completes the most laps is the winner. Standings are listed in class and overall. If two drivers complete the same number of laps the winner will be decided by the fastest lap.

It looks like you have this set up really well, but it's "different" enough and GT4 in general is dead enough that you just aren't going to get much interest. To tell you the truth, I think the only way to get people interested in a GT4 mini-competition like this is to make it very simple, e.g. a hot lap on a particular circuit in a particular car. Otherwise people get overwhelmed and discouraged. I, personally, would run in the stock class (not a fan of tuning), but probably only if a couple others show they're interested, too, and I'm not too sure that's going to happen. It's a really nice effort, though. 👍
 
So Austin, feel free PM me with ammendment suggestions. I will make changes if required.

Too complex... i would be interested, but why so many classes... there will be like 2 people in each class... one class.
 
Very well. Which class would be preffered? Stock, Semi works or works?
 
Stock for me. I think the "team" idea should probably go, too. But the track list is good, and you can probably keep everything else the same.
 
If you go with only the stock car class it may be simpler to either run it as a hotlap competition (using timetrial in arcade mode) over a week, or as a set number of laps in single player arcade mode.

Looks like a fun race, i may be interested depending on how the idea develops (im really busy running SuperGT at the mo tho:crazy:)

I would be quite interested in this (stock though only), but as I don't have a MaxDrive or similar device, have to say no :(
 
Nowhere in the first post does it say anything about verification. I imagine that any suspicious time would be requested for verification by simply showing a picture of it. So don't worry, we need as many entrants as possible if this is going to happen. 👍
 
I would be more than happy to join this. But I have to get a new caterham seeing as how mine has waaaaaay too many mods on it. Sounds like fun. :)👍
 
Yeah, it pretty much runs on the honour system, but outlandish times (as judged by a majority of competitors) would require a form of verification. Just lousy Recording on a camera would be enough.

Never really ran the Caterhams though seeing as you cant use the damn things in races.

If raz is in, and Austin's in, and it's run in stock arcade mode so I don't have to fiddle with innumerate settings, then I'm in too! :D
PM me with details please. Can't guarantee participation in every round due to ongoing GT4 megaquest and possible short-notice travel situation with work, but I'm in for whatever is going at any given time. If this is anything like the MX-5 cup was, it'll be fun with a capital FUN. :D

When will this be starting?

I presume you'll be posting each race in a new thread along with the setup constraints and tyre type for a given track? Along with a race submission deadline and some clear rules regarding how this is run?
I'm not clear on what the goal is? Fastest laptime? Most laps run in 30 min? If it's the latter then why would you offer the option of not driving the full session? :confused:
What's the point of the testing session, and why is it run for 3 x the race length?
I'm also a little concerned by mileage logging, which can only be done in GT mode, but I don't want to have to save the game with a lot of excess miles on my car and tend to reset after each session.
This isn't an issue in Arcade mode.

Sorry for the abundance of questions, but I want to be clear on what I'm stepping into.
 
senamic, are you still planning to go ahead with this compeititon? If not, I'm thinking of starting a series, and already have two concepts in mind that are different from this one. If you do give up on it, for lack of interest or lack of time or whatever, then I'll put up an interest thread with a poll that has all three options, my two and the Caterhams. If there's enough interest, then I'll run whichever series gets the most votes. Does that sound good to you?
