Race Specifics

  • Arcade Mode Time Trial - hotlap
  • Power: 0% (158 hp)
  • Weight: -10% (332 kg)
  • Tire Type: N3
  • Driving aids and transmission mode are open.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time. Green areas outside of rumble strips are not part of the track.
  • Please PM me your final time by Tuesday April 28 by 11:59 pm GMT.

Series General Rules

  • Discussion of times in the race thread during the week are limited to split times (T1, T2). Final times are not to be discussed and must be submitted to me by PM before the week's deadline.
  • Please save your best lap replay in case I request proof. Some form of proof, a photo at minimum, will be required of the winner. I may request proof of any suspicious times, which may include requiring a video or .max file. Posting video or .max replays is encouraged of all participants should they wish to do so.
  • Each race will award points towards the overall championship standings to all who submit a clean lap/race time, with the winner receiving 15 points, second place 12, third place 10, and fourth on down each separated by 1 point (9, 8, 7, etc.). No points will be awarded to a non-submitting driver. You do not have to announce your participation in the championship beforehand: anyone may participate in a race and be counted into the championship points, even if you do not plan on running all the races; similarly, there is no obligation to participate in every race. The driver with the most points at the end of the six races will win the championship.

I'm giving you all this one a day early, in case you want to get a head start on it. I think it's a fun combo, reminiscent of the warmup race, and very tough to get everything right in one lap. It's also quite straightforward compared with some of the ones I'll be giving you in later rounds. :sly: Anyway, have fun! :)

first 10 minutes...trying to find the rythm in this car...

I had another go at this and beat my time by quite a bit, although I can see about 0.4 more if I'm extremely lucky.

T1: 1'01.652
T2: 1'54.125

To be honest, the esses still baffle me. :boggled: They seem to be extremely sensitive - get your turn-in or braking wrong by just a bit and you're off line for the whole rest of the run through, and in a car that rewards momentum, that makes the lap a total write-off. :ouch: I'm actually finding that sliding a bit sideways through a couple of them is beneficial, but I may be imagining things. I hit the esses pretty well this time, although there's .1 or a bit more left to take yet. I lost all my time in Degner instead - .25 or .3 seconds from braking too late and thus too much for the first part, and then overbraking and sliding/wheelspinning out of the second part. The rest was almost perfect for me.

I think Smallhorses is going to annihilate everyone's time this week. :scared:

Not a chance mate! I cannot get anywhere near your spectacular splits. :scared:

I think that's mainly a function of time spent. I've done about three hours on this combo, and mostly fluked that run. However, this last session, while bringing no better laps, did see me get a crazy run through the esses that put me probably .3 ahead of my ghost entering Degner. :scared: Of course, I totally botched both parts of Degner and the hairpin and said goodbye to what probably should have been a 1'01.0xx or .1xx T1. :ouch: I also know there's about a tenth hiding in Casio, so I still have a ways to go yet, but I absolutely cannot negotiate Spoon correctly when my lap is going well...

The deadline is in about 21 hours. 👍 I can't seem to improve, so I'm done, and moving on to race two.
 
Some improvement for me, but got terrible wheelspin out of the hairpin which cost me some time on my T2 split. :grumpy:

I've hit my wall. I had one superhuman lap (by my own standards) and now I've shaved .2 off it in 25 laps after. I laid down a blistering T1, by my own standards :P I'm submitting now

Erm, you're about 2 hours too late!
11:59PM GMT is:
4:59PM Pacific Time (adjusted for Daylight Savings)
5:59PM Mountain Time (adjusted for Daylight Savings)
6:59PM Central Time (adjusted for Daylight Savings)
7:59PM Eastern Time (adjusted for Daylight Savings)

and if you're in one of those weird states that doesn't follow daylight savings, knock off another hour.
 
Sorry I'm so late with the results. I only got home a little while ago. :guilty: Congratulations to all, with stellar times everywhere, albeit spread out due to the length and difficulty of Suzuka. raz_10 missed the submission deadline but notified me of it well before, so I'm accepting his time for this race. mustangGT, I hope this doesn't seem to unfair, but you simply missed the deadline by two hours and I can't accept your time, although I do have it listed unofficially. Let me know if you have any problems with my judgment, because I'm still new to this and don't have the confident decision-making skills that people running race series are supposed to have. :dunce:
 
Ah, I had some troubles converting time zones too, but in the opposite direction... so I think I submitted my time about 24 hours too early :p

And don't worry Austin343, you're doing well 👍

Given that it's the first race of the season, perhaps we can "pretend" that the race stewards have found an issue with his car, penalising him by 5 seconds, dropping his time below AyJay's but still including him in the points table with a 5th placed finish.

This way AyJay doesn't lose points as he'd followed the submission rules properly, but it means that mustangGT90210 doesn't start off with nothing at all. Just an idea. 💡

In future make sure you know the deadline relative to your local timezone, and submit in good time. ;)
For me it's 5PM, and I can't guarantee being home from work by that time so I usually send the PM on the Tuesday morning.

My NTSC replay will be available in MAX Drive format if anyone requests to see it. 👍
 
Adding a link to a clock did enter my mind, but I thought people here would remember GMT from the WRS. I think it is a good idea, though, seeing as I confused two people with my deadline. As for allowing mustangGT's time, I think you have a good idea, but I'll wait to hear what he has to say about it before making a decision.

I'll be gone until Tuesday night, so I won't be able to post photo "proof" (I still can't find my videocamera :confused:) until then; also, the results will be a bit late again and you won't have the usual extra day for the next combo. I'll be having too much fun hitting buzzers at National Science Bowl in Washington D.C. to get internet access :p, unless there happens to be Wi-Fi there, which I doubt. So, have fun at Citta di Aria, and I'll be back in a week. 👍
 
Even that I didn't participate the 1st round I ran a 2'25.243 in a 15 minute session today.
Now switching to GTP_WRS 26 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe '06 /GT5P Suzuka combo

What's your specialty, Chemistry, Physics or Biology?
My qualifications are in Chemistry and a graduate degree in Analytical Chemistry, although my day to day work seems to be mostly Physics and Electrical Engineering nowadays.
Not sure if I'll get much chance to run Citta, it seems I'm likely to be flying off to LA this afternoon until the end of the week. 👎
 
Cool, I do have internet here. It's a bit slow, but it will do.

Since it would make your inner child happy, mustang, I do think eight points are in order for you. I definitely made it harder by not putting in that link to the world clock, and after this race I doubt people will miss deadlines again, so I'd say there's no problem. That's not to mention that getting no points is very costly because of the lack of racers.

It sure does! I'm more interested in chemistry, but in AP biology this year, I discovered I really like molecular biology and biochemistry, so I may look into that, too.
