  • Arcade Mode Time Trial - hotlap
  • Power: 0% (158 hp)
  • Weight: -10% (332 kg)
  • Tire Type: N3
  • Driving aids and transmission mode are open.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: All track is legal; no contact with walls allowed at any time.
  • Please PM me your final time by Tuesday May 5 by 11:59 pm GMT (world clock).

Series General Rules

  • Discussion of times in the race thread during the week are limited to split times (T1, T2). Final times are not to be discussed and must be submitted to me by PM before the week's deadline.
  • Please save your best lap replay in case I request proof. Some form of proof, a photo at minimum, will be required of the winner. I may request proof of any suspicious times, which may include requiring a video or .max file. Posting video or .max replays is encouraged of all participants should they wish to do so.
  • Each race will award points towards the overall championship standings to all who submit a clean lap/race time, with the winner receiving 15 points, second place 12, third place 10, and fourth on down each separated by 1 point (9, 8, 7, etc.). No points will be awarded to a non-submitting driver. You do not have to announce your participation in the championship beforehand: anyone may participate in a race and be counted into the championship points, even if you do not plan on running all the races; similarly, there is no obligation to participate in every race. The driver with the most points at the end of the six races will win the championship.

I thought it would be a good idea to get the really hard one out of the way early. :nervous: Since we don't have Eiger Nordwand in GT4, Citta di Aria is the closest you can get to this video (the inspiration for this race), which first appeared in the WRS Week 155 thread:

I advise you all to take it easy for a few laps and figure out the lines and the behavior of the car on this super-narrow track before going all-out. It's tough, no doubt about that, and it can be infuriating at times (like that last corner :ouch:), but I think it's quite addicting and enjoyable once you get into it - seconds will melt away even when you think you've maxed out. Have fun! :scared:

It's weird, I moved mustangGT90210's picture to the first post which works fine in IE6 on my other laptop, but on Firefox on this one it doesn't show up.
Can everyone else see it? If not, can you upload the image to imageshack mustangGT90210, and PM me the link.
Getting my first runs in on this combo now and will have splits as soon as I can complete a lap without scraping a wall. :grumpy:

A big powerslide out of the bottom hairpin and some wheelspin in the run up to the finish line may have cost me a little time here, but all in all it's a lap I'm happy with and will give me something to chase if I get any more time. Going to be flying to Fort Collins, CO on Monday morning, so I doubt I'll get much extra time before the deadline. :(

I'm glad to see you like it, raz. 👍 And Smallhorses, yes, it's forwards (reverse had the car flying way too much) and I can see the picture.

The times are much closer here than I thought! I expected a spread of several seconds between everyone, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Then again, the last sector can make an enormous difference, so the results may be much farther apart than they look now. We'll see late on Tuesday.
 
Best splits that I saw/can remember from this afternoon's session:
T1 - 42.100-ish
T2 - 1'15.900-ish

Of course various times I have beaten these splits, but an error usually meant the lap wasn't to be my fastest. Also somehow managed to cut 2 seconds off my best lap today, too :p

It works fine for me. I uploaded the photo to GTP in a post in the race at suzuka on mistake, then just hot linked from that

Yeah, same for me! And I'm still having some troubles with the winding downhill section between T1 and T2 :scared:Oh well, there's still time to get some more laps in! :)
 
Well, I'm booked on a 6:15am flight tomorrow and will likely be away all week so I'm not going to be able to improve on my lap. :(
Very frustrating combo, have seen several sub-40s T1s today but still been unable to drop below 1'10.9xx at T2 and then blown the laps with wall touches in the final turns anyway. :grumpy:
I'll submit what I've got from the hotel tomorrow night and will have to wait until next weekend to run race 3.

Congratulations to all three of you for nice laps on a very hard combo. 👍 Hopefully, when I put up my verification, it will be a video and not just a picture, but I'll see. I'm extremely busy this week (I just got home and am taking an AP exam tomorrow morning and another on Monday :sick:) but what little "admin-ing" I have to do should be unaffected.
 
Man, that wheel spin at the end killed me! I crossed the line at about 55 instead of the 73 I was usually, but I couldn't keep up with myself in the beggining of the course :dunce:

Great laps guys. On to trial mountain!
