Then you can move up with the same car by upgrading components, perfect game tutorial system to introduce to players what different tuning changes will do to a car. You can take the one chassis and just keep tuning and upgrading and swapping engines as you work up the different classes and championships.
It doesn't have to be Caterham, other manufacturers have similar racing structures, though Caterham's system is especially well developed and now spreading internationally. It seems perfectly in sync with the Gran Turismo ethos. I mean, part of the real life Caterham Academy package even includes guiding you through tests to get the necessary real life racing license!
