Ok, who has one? I know some of you guys are really into apple, so I'm sure one of you has an iPhone. I'm curious to see if they live up to the hype, or if people are feeling ripped off.

So... somebody post a review. :) (feel free to tell us how long you waited in line)

(BTW - at the moment I have no intention of buying one of these. Just curious to see what the hoopla is about)

I wish I had one.... But a PS3 is more appealing. :p

I want one, buuut… my phone cost $20 and I pay $5/month for service. Yeah.

I found this astonishing, particularly the fact that you can’t scratch the screen even if you gauge it with a key.

Going to sell all my video games for iPhone, brb in 2 hours.

No seriously, I immediately went "do not want" when I saw the pricetag, but after seeing other people on the internet use one, I totally want one. I could hock my iPod for $200, I have a few old games I can sell,...*rambling*

It's my birthday in a few weeks. Does anyone want to chip in some dough? ;)

My dad has one. It's SO slim, it's crazy.

I wouldn't buy one if you don't need to, though. He's still waiting for them to activate his, so I will post a full review when I get to play with it.

Its really tempting but I would rather fund my PS3 and computer component habit with all that cash... in about 2 years the iphone will be more affordable!

I will probably get the next version. It almost never pays to be the first adopter of a new Apple product (even though I've done that twice). It's way cooler than my new Treo, and it's way cooler than my wife's new Palm TX. It also costs more than those two devices put together. It's also not available on my mobile network (yet).

I'll look into whatever is the current model in about 3 years, when my Treo is starting to wear out.

picked up my 8 gig the other day. Got it without a wait in a line, and activations was a snap! I hooked it up to iTunes and everything was done in less than 10 minutes, a very pleasant experience.

The phone's interface is second to none, everything is extremely well done and just so cool to navigate around the phone with. Even the simplest things wow everyone that try it out. Not to mention the crowds it draws, I've showed it to a couple friends and people flock to it, it's crazy.

I've done all of the basic things with it, hooked it up to my WiFi in the house and everything flows extremely well. Maps and webpages load up extremely fast, youtube videos are extremely crisp. I don't have any complaints so far, I didn't go in with the mindset that this was going to be the be-all end-all of phones so it's more than I was hoping for. The keyboard is easy to use despite what some reviews have said, menus flow seamlessly, so far so good!

Actually... how's the battery life with all that stuff it's got running?

Congrats jester. 👍

People in Dallas still waiting to activate their's though, and AT&T says it might not be done until 3-7 days.

Dallas also showed a story about a woman with $100,000 wanting to buy ALL the iPhones and sell them on EBay. She even paid a man in front $800 for his first spot.

Needless to say, she was only allowed 1 meaning that dude just got a free iPhone.

I can't really give an accurate quote on that right now, obviously not the 8hrs. of continuous talk time like advertised though (as that is under ideal situations with nothing running). Right now I've been draining it pretty fast as everyone wants to try it out and demo everything the phone can do.

I was expecting a long wait, once I had finished setting it up on the computer it told me it would send me an email when it was ready. Checked back a few minutes later and was surprised to find out the confirmation mail had come and I was good to go. I figured with how many were getting activated the process was going to be pretty long, but I wasn't porting a number though so I guess that helped.

I saw that video of the lady who was trying to buy out the store. Pretty funny that she was going to try and take advantage of a situation and got shot down hard.

So, is it worth $600?

For the data plan over time, yes.

I am really tempted to get an iPhone, but I think I wait until the price comes down.

I'll probably wait until the price drops too (yes, I've decided not to get a phone right now).

But by then, something better is always going to come out, so I maybe considering something else instead in a years' time...

If Sony doesn't get their asses in gear I'd entertain selling my PS3 to get one of these. It's a little less useless.

Either way all cell phone services blow here in one way or another so, no... I wouldn't get one of these.

This should be shown to the whole world though...

Yum. Surprisingly I don't actually want one, and I don't know why. It's very un-me not to want something like this, but I just don't. I'll probably change my mind in a few years, though.

I'll stick with my N95. :) The iPhone isn't the multimedia wonderphone it's being made out to be, at least this version.

I've had a chance to check one out in person and I have to say that there are a few things that intrigue me, but really I'm more excited about where this is heading than I am about where it is right now.

After seeing what the iPhone does and how it works I almost want to change the category of this thread from [Cell Phone] to [Laptop]. It's really more of a computer than a phone - which makes sense since Apple is a computer company and not (until just now) a phone company.

What I like about the phone is the convergence of products. You have a phone, internet, email, PDA, camera, and video iPod in one device.

But there are so many restrictions for how you can use things. I got excited when I heard that this phone would have WiFi capability - no more slow expensive internet via phone companies. And while the WiFi is good, there is no network drive! How did they overlook this?

You should be able to sit at your computer and put files wirelessly on the phone that still sits in your pocket via wifi. Use it as a memory stick, wirelessly transfer mp3s, wirelessly sync with your computer's calendar and email. Surely those are the sorts of places where this technology will really have an impact.

I've heard people criticize it for not having bluetooth keyboard capability - and that seems like a valid concern but I don't think you'd ever really need it if your phone automatically synced with your computer.

In terms of being a solid phone it has a little ways to go. No 1-touch dialing. No contour to fit to your face nicely. Weak battery life (for a phone, not for a computer). I've heard that signal strength isn't wonderful. But apparently the voicemail interface is second to none.

Overall I'm impressed - but I'm more interested in the potential of future phones than anything else.

I was now watching DL.TV's take on the iPhone and they said the screen is made out of glass, which I don't see a point in. Anyway after seeing some of your views on it, I am just glad I have a 3 month wait, before it comes out in the UK.

What?! That’s a huge improvement – the glass that they’re using doesn’t scratch. Look at the link I posted near the top of the thread.

So it seems companies selling screen protectors for the iPhone are ripping people off, anyway thanks for letting me know.

Actually, the silicon covers serve best the purpose of preventing the phone from slipping out of your hands.

If you've just grubbed on some mad-greasy finger food, you might want to be extra careful when going to handle the iphone.

I wonder who will be the first person to drop there iPhone and shatter the glass screen, but how can a cover like that add friction to the product to stop it slipping.

So, is it worth $600?

I guess so, I'd have to have it for a while to see whether or not the price was justified. At the moment I don't have any complaints about it, I wasn't looking for a business oriented device, just something more media oriented. Overall I like it, nothing major that bugs me about it. A lot of media places enjoy bashing it for what it doesn't have as opposed to pointing out the good things that it does have. Typical for a product like this though, everyone out there is a complainer.

the phone itself is slim and kinda slippery. Not like iPod slippery with the smooth metal finish but a little better because the paint on the iPhone has a slight texture to it. But put the iPhone in a silicone case and it helps out a lot, silicone is very easy to hang on it and doesn't slide out of your hands at all.

Apple store replaced it for free, however. No questions asked.

They do with iPods too because they're "Genius's" are too stupid to know otherwise what the problem is.

You wouldn't rather have a new iPod than a fixed one that could potentially break again?
