2 more evil cell phones just entered the world people, complete with internet access, text messaging (through MSN), stock quotes, movie times, 10 rings, 20 songs, 5 games, and 20 other things I'll never use.
My old phone died (15 days after my plan and the phone's warranty expired  ) forcing me to get a replacement. Since My friendly neighborhood cell phone sales rep was kind enough to inform me of the buy 1 get 1 free deal on the phone I had already chosen (I already had a plan with 2 phones) so I ended up with the pair.
Memorial services will be held early tomorrow morning when I go down to the Atlantic Ocean and live out the American dream by throwing my old phones into the water, never again to be seen by human eyes.
Anyone else have one of these oh so evil devices? Personally, these are numbers 6 and 7 and I hate to admit that I probably couldn't live without them in my life.

I'm afraid you're wrong. All technology will be the downfall of human society. :)

you can donate old phones to charity and get a tax cut...

And deny myself the joy of doing mankind the greatest favor of all by forever removing 2 more evil devices? I think not. ;)

Have to say I quite like my phone, but it is a communications device for me. The wife, now she's a different story. To her, the phone is a security blanket, an absolute-essential. 648 text messages last month.

ohh so you don't value your money or help anyone else out...

1) You can't help those that can't help themselves.
2) My phone number is hard-coded into the phones (well, the one that works anyway, who knows what's on the other one.)
3)Find my a link or a place to donate a cell phone as I think it doesn't exist.

648?!?
Damn, and i thought my girlfriend was the worst i've ever seen, with 113 messages:D

Tom, just look up your local charities. My mom donated her old phone here:

The Wireless Foundation
1250 Connecticut Ave, NW
Washington DC 20036

Ohh and they reprogram phones, it doesn't matter if your number is coded on there, they will fix it.

Hope that help, I mean you might as well get some of your money back from your old cell phones, and this helps others...

Let me ask you something: What is the need for the God damned phones that you just talk in to like walkie-talkies? It's so people can have their conversations heard because they want to feel important.

I have a mobile phone that I often forget to charge for a week or two - and when I fire it back up again, I have 1 or none messages.

My partner works for a telecommunications company - she drives home of an evening, so I seem to use her phone more than she does (she has concetration issues whilst driving that don't need a phone complicating!)

Nope, still going into the Atlantic Ocean in a few hours.

Throwing your trash in the ocean, real classy guy, ain't ya? You should do what I do with broken stuff...destroy it in front of the stores sales rep or manager. Show them what a crap product they peddle. Then leave, or they may call the cops.

Please don't put them in the ocean. I have to bodyboard there.

Next time you're laying some concrete, put them in the concrete as you lay it down - nice little surprise for someone in a hundred years or so.
