This weekend is the Monza GP. Someone just took the pole position with 1:22.275. I was wondering, can we beat that with F10 on racing hard tires...
This is not in order to prove that we are better racers than the F1 guys. This is just for the sake of fun and challenge, as well as checking the representation level of the game in the spirit of the latest Mercedes event.

P.S. No chicane cutting, please!

The f10 was quite a bit faster than this year so it will be pretty tricky

Well, so much for watching the dvr later today to see the results. But I usually do the same race during the weekend whenever the F1 uses a track we have in GT. May be more realistic to use the soft tires for best qualifying time however.

Someone = racing normal

Someone = Kers, DRS, improved car.

We = racing hard

We = estimated simulation of a old F1 car

We = normal gamers

We =? We are!

Hmm, I think racing softs provide roo much grip to be comparable with real life. In F1 now they have 2 types of tires for each race, chosen out of 5 in advance by FIA. They use both of them (have to) in the race. There is no special qualification tire. The softer of the 2 compounds this year is the so called soft (there are also super softs for other races).

Hehe.
We have many attepts.
Cannot break the car.
Cannot get killed in the cockpit (not on the couch and by crash, anyway).
Can be as agressive as we want.
There are some ultra fast guys, playing GT5
Will switch to racing medium if the challenge is impossible... :)

''Mediums'' are Racing Hard
''Softs'' are Racing Normal
''Supersofts'' are Racing Soft

No F1 spoilers outside of the F1 thread. Thanks.

Just got a 1'23.5 with the F2007, RS, DS3. i reckon there's a couple more seconds to be had though.

I was trying to match the times with a F10 with Racing Softs but I'm still a few seconds off the pace. Heaps of time to be made though for a 1:24.8

if your gonna do this why not do the motor trend car challenge 2011 thats on youtube at laguna seca ;)

I'll have to disagree with this thread, I accomplished a 1:21.xxx WHILE keeping 2 tyres vertically adjascent to the track at all times (half on half off at the chicanes). And accomplished a 1:24.3xx in the wet portion of monza. So i have reason to believe that unless your going to use mediums. This competition isn't going to work properly

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to compare to Alonso's pole from last year, in an F10?

Without cutting anything and pushing as hard as possible I got mid 23's. That was also on racing softs and full aero, which comparible to the RB7, is very near idenical. It is obviously slower since it barely hits 200 at the end of the straight and the Sauber hit 218 today. If you watch onboards from Vettel of qualifying yesterday, you'll notice the speeds and shifts through most of th corners are exactly what you are doing in the game.

Damn, I hate when that happens. I have gotten to a point that I will not watch any t.v. or look online at anything until I watch my F1 off my DVR.

I was spoiled 2 weeks ago for the race when I was online and somebody said something along the same lines.

4 hours to go :)

Threads like this get me thinking about all sorts of things like this, like matching a Super Taikyu lap time or something like that, but we don't have any up to date cars from this year for that, and that makes me wish PD would update the game semi-regularly to include cars from the current racing season. I suppose it hasn't even been a year yet but I don't expect that'll happen.

Actually It would be better to "race" against Alonsos pole time which he setted last year with the F10.

Its a bit off topic, but I always thought that F1 2010 delivered very realistic lap times If you drove without assists and didn`t glitched/cut the track.

Did a 1:23.6 in the F10 on RS. On RH I think I had a low 1:25.

I'm sure someone will be able to do it but for the majority, that time will elude us. Especially since that time was in a Red Bull, with KERS and the DRS active on every straight as it was qualification.

As someone already posted, they were nearly hitting 220mph down some of the straights.

1:22.197 on Racing Hards. My exit out of Ascari was questionable but there was plenty of track to spare on the right so there wasn't any gain. This was only my 4th lap and the engine isn't broken in so with some more practice and full HP it's possible to go quite a bit faster still.
