At what percentage of surface water should I need to change my intermediate tyres to full wets? I suppose its partially down to driver preference etc, but there must be a point where the intermediates are just not clearing enough water to be competitive?

Just preparing for a race and its something I've not been too sure on.

I have driven on slicks until 10-20% without changing. So intermediates start around 15-25 i think, but I am actually hoping you can confirm the intermediates for me since you actually made the change. I can only guess that Full wets go on around 50-75. Hope it helps.

I completed the 1000km Suzuka endurance in 100% wetness for the entire race. I went back & forth between inters & wets. I was 10s a lap faster on inters.

I just learn that you shoud do racing soft front & inter rear when it raining, slick tyres are better than wet tyres even in the rain.

I haven't studied much with the LMP/Group C class, but anything lesser in power can run inters from first sign of wetness, all the way up. You can actually beat LMPs in a GT-R racer in the rain using inters on most tracks, for instance. (Not sure if that is a good example, but it was my justification for trying it elsewhere, and I find success with it).

Cheers for the help guys, sort of have an idea now. Its an online endurance race I'll be participating in, and when it rains I must use one of the wet compounds so using racing softs isn't an option. I'm just hoping I don't have the wrong set of wets on and then possibly cause me positions.
