Right, I know I bitch about these quite a bit on here but I feel it needs to said again. I defy anyone to say these changes would take too much time or not benefit Aspec.

Let us have the three Ai strength settings that Arcade has for Aspec (at least, preferably a slider). Aspec is TOO easy for me I have to severely handicap myself to get a good race, and even then it's not THAT good a race.

Let us choose the number of laps for every Aspec race, for those who don't care leave it default and so no different to what we already have, but for those who DO care let us have the option. I'd LOVE to do a 20 lap race in a lowly sub 320 PP car for a laugh every so often. I'd also like to increase the Super GT and DTM race lengths.

Give us the extra options that online and Arcade mode have, I want tyre wear and fuel useage on, real grip setting on, Damage on full and Ai on 1-10.

Bring back Qualifying, limited to an hour. Make it easily skippable for those who don't want to qualify, or for starting last on purpose for a challenge.

STANDING STARTS BACK PLEASE!!! <-- Cannot stress this enough. Single file rolling starts are PANTS!

Let the Ai use better tyres based on the players car and difficulty setting.

Now I refuse to believe any of that would be particularly hard for PD to implement. And If they did implement it then Aspec would be MUCH better.

Here are some other ideas that would be more time consuming.

(MANY others have mentioned this) Event/championship creator, single race or up to 10 races for a decent championship length (maybe even 18 if possible for more real like championship length like Moto GP/F1 etc.)

Be able to set the opposition PP limits, tyre limits etc (maybe even individually) and customise any win/ballast rules.
set the start type. i.e. Dual file rolling for SGT/NASCAR/FIAGT/LM type starts or standing starts like F1 etc
Set the distance for the races, laps or in Km/miles or time.
set the practise and qualifying times i.e.:

Practise one [tick box]-start time-duration
Practise two [tick box]-start time-duration
Qualifying one [tick box]-start time-duration
Qualifying two [tick box]-start time-duration

Warm up [tick box]-start time-duration

(start time for tracks with variable time obviously)
so all the above would be optional and any part not required not ticked.

Rewards calculated on types of cars used and race distance and finish position obviously.

Last two may not be so easy, but need to be done IMO.

Reverse needs to be linked to the throttle for wheel users in Sequential shift mode...PLEASE!! I CAN'T STAND pressing a button to reverse when I have a throttle pedal under my right foot!!

Please sort out the brake balance adjustment. It should be adjustable in 1% increments so I can set a car to 59/41 or 53/47 or 55/45 or 52/48....FINE tuning not this 10 percent jump we have. It also needs to be SEPARATE from brake strength (which should be adjustable in 1% increments as well for personal preference or to simulate early cars crap brakes).

i dig it.

good calls.

nice to see at least one person agrees!

Couldn't agree more. However I just don't see PD doing anything now, they've had 10 months and not touched it.

A-spec is bad because the AI is bad. Nothing is going to fix that soon. Even Arcade mode on professional with AI strenght on 10 is a joke. With internet becoming bigger and bigger they should focus on some sort of an online career next time. Where you score credits and XP that are based on what level the others you are racing again have.

Offline should become something where every car and track is available from the start so you can hotlap in them and a championship creator so you can race against bad AI.

hmmm, I must say I don't agree with any sort of focus on online. Many people including me don't get on with online for various reasons. Games ignore Offline at their peril. Also the Ai wasn't that bad on original release, but when they patched it the low corner speed, slowing down problem manifested and has not been resolved. Personally I'd like to see the Ai revert to it's pre patched state.

Again, I agree. I just don't like online gaming and still look for a solid offline experience, espcially in a game like Gran Turismo which was built on just that. The old games didn't need online to be fun and long lasting, neither should GT5. Sure, add online, but I don't ever want it to be the focus in a GT game. The focus should always be a solid, long lasting well thought out offline game.

AI speed can be worked around using slower cars, driving differently. The lack of events can't be worked around though.

Yeah I know. Online can be a problem because it's not as easy to pick up as just doing a quick race offline. But I got sick of A-spec in this game because I knew before I started that I would be in first place after the first corner. Or I needed to pick a car 100 pp below the AI so they could overtake me on every straight.

That's why I though an online career could be fun. With a matchmaking system so you are competing with people on the same level. Something like in FIFA where you can win XP but also lose it when you lose against someone of a lower level than you. Then you are actually racing to get to a better level in stead of lapping the opposition in a 5 lap race.

I never really noticed that the AI was better before.

How about money and experience that reflects the number of laps. I like slider idea especially.

I agree with the grid starts, I want them back and that event creator sounds decent too. The other things you want are just minor tweaks in my opinion, won't bother me if I never have them.

Yeah I'm all for standing starts. There should be an option where you can select standing/rolling start. If they wanted to be really cool about it you could even have options for stagger/spacing on both standing and rolling starts.

Well done , good ideas , and i think these can be implemented with a patch or something easily. I agree that A-spec could be greatly improved . Also , maybe off-topic but i wish we could choose what cars AI drives in arcade mode , for instance ; limit AI cars to pre 70s , so we can do classic le mans races with the classics.

You do understand that everything you are asking for would require re-coding most of the game? Not sure how much you know about programming, but just a quick lesson, there are probably 1 billion lines of code in the game (rough guess based on other programs that I have been involved in implementing) and to re-code it would be a major task. Don't believe me go dig up an old Commodore64 and find an old program for it and start counting the lines of code just to make a simple program.
Software companies get big money (I know this for a fact as I have OVER $10K invested in software for my business) for their product for a reason, the knowledge and expertise to create the game is quite expensive and so getting a game for what we pay for them is actually quite cheap (one game would not pay for 1 hour of development time)

Sorry but i have to disagree , 2.0 made AI smarter and faster imo , i assume you have tried arcade mode , with AI strength set to 10? if you have not , you should give it a try .

Eh, no it wouldn't. It's just sub-systems and presets etc.; the event creator is a bit more involved, but would still essentially sit on top of existing code and infrastructure with minimal invasion and modification of said existing code required. It's not like the entire file-handling front-end and graphics engine etc. will need to be thrown out because we want to be able to dynamically make a list based on user input instead of reading it from a game file...
The real expense in software is getting the damned thing to work as intended, without hiccups, bugs, loopholes, security risks etc. not to mention delivered on time. For this reason, code is very modular (re-usable / transferable) and usually abstracted (quicker) to high heaven.
Besides, GT5:P had something just like an event creator hidden away in debug menus, so the leg work has already been done.

Anyway, I agree with the suggestions wholeheartedly. The AI is a tricky one, but their corner entry habits have been terrible since GT4 with their "double braking" i.e. once before the corner and then again on the apex (that couldn't be successfully emulated by a human driver, possibly because the AI used aids heavily back then). Making them artificially fast might help if the AI "technique" itself cannot take the corners fast enough, but that's not really a fix so much as a dirty hack.

A flexible event generator that earns cash and XP would inject new life into A-Spec, no doubt. It'd essentially be: pick car -> go race.
Adding the difficulty options to existing A-Spec events would still cater for those that like to find and fettle a car to fit an existing challenge, only the spread of challenge will be more satisfying, and infinitely more adjustable. 👍
