Changes to New Posts Search?

I've noticed that when I use the "new posts" link at the top, I get every thread that changed since a long time back, not just the ones that have changed since I last visited. Even clicking the "Mark all forums as read" link won't reset it.

Any ideas?
 
The "new posts" link at the top shows all threads from the past 24 hours, with new ones since your last visit displayed with "new" in front of them. To view only updated threads since your last visit, click "View New Posts" on the forum home page.
