Changing email addresses on PS3

The email address I used when establishing my online ID is no longer an active account. Can I update to a new address? The reason why I ask is that I would like to get a new PS3 as my old one is dying and I want to transfer my GT5 & MLB The Show data. I would like to keep my current online id.

You can change your e-mail by calling Sony, as far as transfers go I don't have a solid answer so I won't give one but I'm sure the Sony help will have your answer.
