Changing from firewire to USB

I have a 300GB external HDD and I use it for my laptop which has fire wire( the tiny one, smaller than mini-USB). I want to use it on my desktop, but it only has USB on it. If I go out and by an adapter or another cord that goes to fire wire>USB is there going to be any issues? Do I have to find a driver for windows?

If it helps, the HDD is FAT 32

Thanks a lot!:)

You're going to need a Firewire card in your PC if the drive is Firewire only. You won't find a device that "converts" Firewire to USB. There are cars and hubs with both connections, but they do not adapt one to the other.

The PCI Firewire cards are cheap as dirt, so it shouldn't be much of a hassle.
