After being plagued by the DLC region lock issue, i bit the bullet and got myself a matching region code GT5 Spec 2 only to realise that the save game is locked to the region as well, now, It contains almost a year's worth of progress and thus I'd like to know if there is anyway to change the savegame's region to work with the new region coded game disc?

There is no way you can change the savegame region or copy the data to another account. I feel your pain.
The only thing you can do is to start GT5 from scratch.
This region issue is really a pain in the rear.

Actually, you can change the region quite easily, and it is now also possible (again quite easily) to assign the save to a PSN account other than the one that created it.

There are plenty of tutorials on how to change a ps3 save game region, very easy to do, I won't explain here as it can vary slightly with different saves, however I have tried it with many games and it has worked every time. Search google for that one.

As for changing the PSN ID for a given save, that can only be done (afaik) with a piece of recently released software, yes I did buy it and yes it does work. Software is called Xploder Ultimate Edition.
