EDIT: Uploaded replay to here.

So, I had a remote race running on GT5 on Indy Superspeedway whilst doing something else on the computer. At one point, I glanced at the screen just after the leading pack had lapped the 2J and noticed that not only was the 2J inexplicably keeping up with the 4 leaeders - that were reaching 230mph - but was actually pushing the Sauber C9.
Now that wouldnt be a problem if the 2J didnt top out at around 205mph with standard transmission settings.
What was more bizzare was the fact that, as it should have been, it was topping out at 205mph, but it tagged right along in the slipstream of the R8, Minolta, R92 CP and Sauber C9 that were all travelling up to and slightly over 230mph. Re-watching the replay, it actually gains on them down the straights on occasion and even managed to hassle the R92 for track position at one point.
Right at the start of teh race, it did get outdragged by a Panoz Esperante, which got up to 207mph vs 205mph in the 2J, so without slipstream its speed was fine. Its just, for some reason, it managed to reach speeds nearly 30mph faster than its speedometer said it did in the slipstream. But then, this is the 2J we are talking about after all.

When you say "top out" do you mean redline? Because both Chappys have a red zone of 1000RPM, so that could easily explain the difference.

Upload the replay to YouTube.

It's not a video file; it's a replay file that only takes down the inputs and track/car data, but doesn't render the gameplay. That's what your game does, and the only way to record is externally or via capture card.

Thanks for that, done.

Yes, I mean it hits the redline at about 205mph without spipstream, but the main thing is that somehow in splistream it goes significantly faster despite still hitting the limiter at, what the speedo says, 205mph.
