I have an HP OMEN with a 120W power adapter. Recently, the charger wouldn't charge the laptop when it is on. I took it to Best Buy and said the power strip I had it plugged into couldn't handle the charge. I was at my grandparent's house at the time.

Now, it's doing it again at my house. I have a pretty old strip as well, but it still charges when the laptop is on. I found out that it still charges when the laptop is off.

I don't think it's the power in my house that's the problem since it's only 10 years old. Could it be something in the computer or charger?

Found the problem. It was my charger. More specifically, the cord that runs from the wall outlet to the adapter. I had an extra one and swapped it with the other one to see if that was the issue, and it was. I think the other one didn't work anymore since I yanked it out of the outlet from school when class was finished, and when I heard a pop when I plugged it into the strip at my grandparent's house.
