Chassis maintenance!

So I've decided to drive my Zonda R which i haven't used for a while and noticed that the car is undrivable, can't make an apex, can't brake, loose rear allot, so i started to poke around the settings and stuff and nothing worked, i blamed it on PD with the latest update thinking they broke it. Then i decided to buy a new Zonda and try it and voila it drives like a dream and then it came to me, why don't i do a chassis maintenance on my old Zonda and boom, it handles just as before, just like the new one!

Here's my question/suggestion, why not make an indicator for chassis wear, like green/yellow/red zone indicator so we don't have to guess on how bad the chassis are?! Now i feel the need to fix it even after slightest contact to prevent performance loss and some cars are mad expensive to fix!

A simple indicator to see how much chassis wear there is and how much performance you loose would make a great use don't you think?

I couldn't agree more. And on the topic of interface improvements, how about giving the tire diameter that top speed is based on in the adjustable gearbox tuning menu?

I think they should take both chassis maintenance and engine overhauls out of the game. They add nothing to the experience and only serve as a way to throw away money. The realism they bring is completely unnecessary in a video game.

Good point.

Good point.

agreed 100%. The cost is stupendous too, why not charge $50k to do it not 10x that, it's probably cheaper to sell damaged one & buy a new version of the car!

Such small things add to the awesomeness of the game.

On most cars its not even worthwile to do so

For example, a premium GT500 car is 950k. After a few races the engine and chassis will cost 1 mill to repair

Cheaper to buy a new one

With this in mind, I definitely agree that this is a stupid feature, or one that needs to be re-thought

Hehe, yeah, allot cheaper considering you can also sell the old one :)

BTW, now that they lowered credit prizes for seasonal events with the last update by x4 times and it's even harder to make money, now how many races you have to make to maintain an expensive GT500 or any other similar maintenance cost car?

Hi, I put the "chasis reinforcement thing" from the tuning shop on all my cars as soon as I buy them, so it costs 20K, so what. It seems to help in the long run. All my cars are pretty banged up (you only have to touch a wall for a 2Mil. repair job on some of the cars) so I'm looking at billions of credits to fix them all, so I don't fix them any more. The same with the engine overhaul..not worth it... Just buy another car or a better car...IMO if you adjust the front toe angle to (minus) -0.1 from the normal 0.0 this will help your "bent car" corner better... Have fun.

I think some of you are completely on what constitutes chassis maintenance. A little bit of contact or a couple hundred miles won't throw off the chassis. I'd say every 1000 miles is a good interval if you races clean or 500 if you always find your car covered in scrapes. On the other hand may only take a half hour of demo derby to need one too.:sly:

I actually like the Chassis and engine overhaul feature. It reminds me of taking my car to a real body shop and makes me glad I don't have to do it very often in real life.

With all the thought they put in to this game, and all the years it took to create, the whole chassis maintenance thing just seems so poorly done. As with oil changes, a "Last chassis maintenance/oil change done at XXXX miles" would have been so simple to create. Having chassis and engine maintenance combined equal to the value of the car, as in GT500 is also a joke. Along with having to constantly wade through the whole oil change graphic over and over, it's just a poorly done part of the game.

I agree with that, it's a pointless exercise to me along with the car wash and oil change features which I have never liked in any GT game. Why not make us buy new tyres after each race, new brake pads, buy petrol and various other nonsense as well? There aren't many things I don't like about GT, but having to purchase this stuff is a pet hate of mine

You sir are a genius.

After like 10 races with the Vettel Red Bull the repair wold cost 500k each (engine + chassis)... It adds a portion of realism to the game, but come on... The prices are just ridiculous.

wrong... if you got the 200% bonus its the same like trippled credits its still easy to get money.
how many miles was on your zonda r?

mine got something like 35,000 and still no problems

...And for those who play offline?

I did a chassis overhaul once on a Delorean that cost 500,000 cr. I ran one lap at Tsukuba and went back to GT Auto and sure enough it was back to 500,000 cr for another one.

I've never done it since....

Engine and chassis maintenance is limited to 1/3 the cost of the car or 500,000 max for Each (excludes stealth and some prize cars that cost only 500 each )
So you still save over >1/3 on buying a new car from the dealer. Thats with out the costs of any upgrades you have done that need to be redone.
Driving a car on the endurance races that only costs 70,000 for both repairs saves a lot more than running a car that costs 1 Mill total for both. so yes they are worth having these options they force you to drive more cost effective cars.

This is the reason I don't run NASCAR on GT, after a few races you have to rebuild. The car is 500k to buy the repairs are 500k each? How would fixing the car be double the cars price? You could buy 2 new ones but then you are very underpowered compaired to the people who paid up. You have a very slim chance beating a re-built with a new one at the oval's.

Well, i don't play every day to get that 200%, i have thing to do besides it!

Zonda was less that 1k when it got undrivable!

I've never done a chassis rebuild on any car I have and now with the credit payout reduced with 2.0 I almost certainly never will lol.

nope I used the word Max
Nascar rebuilds are not 500,000
There up to 400,000,
up to 150,000 for the engine this includes new oil and a car wash as well.
up to 250,000 for the chassis again this includes new oil and car wash as well.

so you save 100,000 min not buying a new car. plus you keep your tires and extras which you dont need to re-buy.
You wont see engine drop out for 1000s of miles the only changes you need before that are oil for 2000.

After 10 Nascar events coming first you have paid for the rebuild and more (now only 5 realy if online)
Remember if you borrow a car theres ZERO repairs as they reset when you reborrow the same car.

Problem found. You don't have to do anything.

Car still handle right? Yes. Why are you rebuilding the chassis?

Car losing power? Oil change fixes the problem? Yes.(Depending on mileage) Why rebuild the engine?
