Does the chassis damage have a dramatic effect to the cars? Because I don't want to pay 50k every time I hit something.

I think if you leave it too long the car handles like its on mables but thats only if you have done alot of bumping and crashing.

I've been playing the game since it came out and I've never noticed the chassis rebuild to make much, if any difference to lap times, I actually tested this one after a friend asked me the exact same question. So I went and bought the highest mileage car I could find in the UCD (it was a jaguar e type i'm pretty sure) made sure to smash it up really hard, and did 10 laps on deep forest. (my test track) Then I did the rebuild and did another 10 laps. There was no significant difference. (for me anyway) I would say I'm an average GT5 driver.

Is there a way to check when a car needs this rebuild?

Wouldn't hurt to do it after every two thousand km.

Chassis degradation is very, very slow and most players would not notice it. It is not caused by contact or wrecking the car, but simply by mileage. For the average player the effects are probably not noticeable, so it makes no difference anyway. But if you take a car with 100K on it, dupe it, the refresh one of the copies, you can defintely feel the difference with a wheel. At 20k or 30k I don't think it makes much difference at all.

I think it's more old cars with lots of miles. Same as engine rebuild. Possibly if you crash a lot or drive over bumpy tracks makes it worse but it's up to you to do.

With the amount of credits you can earn in seasonalls 50k is a snip really.

It's based on distance driven only. Crashes, bumpy tracks etc. have no effect.

I had a Nascar with 8000 km on it and i made a body rebuilt (what i never did before) and i saw a huge difference, the car was more stable in the corners of Daytona and it was easier to hold a good line, i'm playing with a DFGT, so now when i have to rebuilt the engine ( each 5000km) i rebuilt the body too...

Some time ago I was using a UCD LM car - R89 or such like. I did a chassis rebuild after a few laps and it was much tighter.

I wonder if race cars are more prone to wear? It wasn't high mileage. They also cost a lot, 200k I think.

This is silly! I got the Ferrari SP1 and I took it for a drive at Monza. I hit a braking marker with the back at 20 kph. After the time trial I went to GTauto. and checked the chassis rebuild. It said 500'000 credits!!!! I drove it for 5 km!

As soon as you drive a car the ability to repair the chassis is available. It does NOT mean that it is required.

You don't need to do it until the car feels loose and won't hold your normal line through a corner.
