Chat Window Unresponsiveness in Ubuntu 11.10

So I just upgraded Ubuntu from 11.04 to 11.10. With 11.04, the chat room worked fine, but with 11.10 now I can go into the chat room but can't type anything in the text box. I see the typing cursor line flashing but nothing types. Can anyone help me? It's likely a Java issue or something but I don't know for sure.
 
I used Ubuntu once but I never used it on this site. I doubt anyone uses it as well. Maybe try to restart your computer or tinker with Mouse Settings?
 
Many people here use linux, myself among them. Given that ubuntu is probably the most popular linux distro, odds are that's what most of the linux users here use, too.
 
No doubt a java issue, I had similar problems but it now loads after quite a wait. I have a feeling they got rid of synaptic package manager in the latest release ( :ouch: ) but you can try the software centre for any java updates or alternatives.
 
The chat will work best with Sun's official Java platform, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be included any longer with the latest Ubuntu releases due to licensing. You can still install Sun's Java for free, though - take a look here for more.
 
Oh wait, update: Good news, anyone. I tried the chat again and it seems to work fine.
