I've been looking through some threads and there are many amazing builds (or buys)
i want to build one but as i am 'young' i can't really buy one and since i don't have any building experience i can't build my own. So is there anyone that would offer to give me some blueprints to their builds?

I'm not 'young', but I am new to GT5 and the idea of building a cockpit for simracing.

If money is an issue, I do think you need to just consider building something for yourself that will 'work' and not be tempted into something you ultimately cant afford to build or buy. I've read numerous cockpit threads and so many of these are just PHENOMENAL, but too much for me as well.

Ultimately, I will be building a pvc one. I've found numerous excellent versions of these done and I figure I'll just start there and see what happens over time. If I can justify putting more money into one that is much more elaborate at a later date, I will go that route at that point. Till then, building something that might run me $70-$80 wise is just the smarter route for me to go.

Since you say your young I'll assume you still live at home with your parents. Since its their house and your the 'kid', I'd take your parents thoughts into consideration whether they might be willing to bankroll you as well as where you might possibly store it when its not being used. As a kid, my parents pretty much wouldnt have let me keep something like a cockpit of ANY sort stashed in the living room, no matter WHAT the quality of the build (wait a sec.....I think my wife is the SAME way!! OOOHHH CRAP!! LOL). A pvc one makes sense since I would think it would be easier to move and 'put away', but obviously that isnt totally true either since you could still have difficulties with even it.

I know I'm doing my best to resist the temptation to really go wild and build some totally over the top cockpit. That might ultimately be a reality, but I've got to justify spending that kinda money to myself as well as my wife (and even kids). I'm sure that if I use the one I build much over time, upgrading to a much nicer one will be relatively easy.

Good luck with your decisions.

well i do have room to stash the cockpit, so i don't need to ruin my parents lounge room. But its just i'm trying my best to be budget wise so i don't spend too much for what i don't need. I would love a top of the range simulator but i don't have a job so i don't think i can afford it. Over time i think i will upgrade the cockpit but for now i just need something for my needs. I have no building experience whatsoever (except for computers) so i don't think i'll be that good at building my own cockpit

Just saying:
http://www.wheelstandpro.com/order.html (or look for it on Amazon)

It's easy to move around, folds up, and not so much of an eyesore that it should be parent (wife) approved. Might be more than you want to spend, but it may be worth saving your paper route money for. I've been happy with mine, and although I would prefer a full on cockpit, this is the next best thing in my opinion.

Good luck, and happy racing.

I was looking for more of a cockpit. I have room but its that i just don't have any experience at building a cockpit. I was wondering if anyone would share how they built theirs

I started off with a cheap computer desk. I think I got it from walmart for like 40-50 bucks. It worked fine for my DFGT. It wasn't until I upgraded to a G27 that I found it wouldn't work with the increased pedal force. So I decided to build a full cockpit. I am replying from my phone or I would give you a link.

You dont have to be a master builder to make a cockpit thats awesome....sorry awesome is not usually wife approved...so its usually up to bribes, compromises, or in my case being ktfo of the house into the garage with the sim.

Take this rig for example (mine is a table varient version that holds the monitor) no previous building\pvc experience but buying a 40 dollar jigsaw and a 40 dollar cordless screwdriver will make your life sooooo much easier.

maybe 'll take off the wife approved in the title. As i don't have a wife and my parents don't really care how much space i take up
does anybody know how to build a PVC rig?

Its fairly simple all the blue prints you need are here

mind you you'll have to register(free) to see all the pictures. You can use pvc glue or a strong heavy duty adhesive like liquid nails (and a few structural screws just in case). PVC glue dries really quick, liquid nails gives you time to adjust it.

Basically you will make the platform for your seat that you bought to sit on then you will just measure out how long it needs to be by putting the petals where they feel comfortable, then you start building up to the height you want your wheel. You can make an adjustable stand or a hard mounted table...its all up to you. youtube search pvc simulator and im sure youd find some ideas.

You can use wood as well, options are endless
