I've never before used a Game Shark, ARMax or anything similar.

How does it work, you insert the CD you received with the product, then you enter the new code save it to youre memory card and then run the game?

Can you enter codes without having a Playstation Keyboard?

If I download saves how do I get it from my PC to my PS2?
 
It depends on what version of gameshark you are using.
Yes you can enter cheats without having a PS2 Keyboard.
If you download gamesaves into your PC you use Sharkport or a similar device to transfer them to your PS2 Memory Card.
You insert the disk. Choose a cheat then start the game going through the gameshark(DO NOT turn the game console off or reset it) You boot the game using the gameshark.
