Cheated online, cheated offline!!!

Wow! That's all, I can say! I'm getting tired of the online mode, so I thought I'd finish the final S-class races I had to complete. What a joke that was!

PD need to have a look at the car lineups for some of the races because they stink, pure and simple! In the first race I ran, a 650pp race, I noticed a gaggle of tuned Lotuses. That's fine, until you realise that you can't even tune your own to enter the same race! To top it off, they drive like the wind, and consistently finish in most if not all of the top spots.

I tried always and every way to shoe horn my tuned Elise into the pp limit. The best I could manage was 671~ish - almost 20pp over the allowed limit! If PDs idea of making a game difficult is by putting over powered cars into a race, then they seriously need to look at the AI of this game.

I don't mind losing races when the competition is fair, but it irks me when even the AI has to cheat a guy. Has anyone noticed any other line-up cheating?

I'll have to go back and check S Class, but I pretty much walked it in a day. PD must of made it much Harder through the updates.

I've noticed the same thing, magburner, and it seems to have gotten worse since the August 1st update.

Some here have dubbed this the "Rabbit Effect", where there are one or two cars that are much better than anything else in the grid. It happens in arcade mode, too; for example, a Ford GTLM will be in a race with stock Evos and Imprezas. It seems strange that PD coded this weird effect into the game, but maybe it's just a bug or a mistake.

Actually, they did update the events, before the update S-1 was a 630 PP event and now it's 650 PP.

Unfortunately it's true that they messed up with the Lotus - you can only detune it down to 653 PP.

I can still remember the days we were driving 750PP/R3 on Suzuka online and that 2:00 was a really good time. Only the best could use a GTLM and get to 1:59 or lower. Yesterday I ran some 2:01's in S-10 and I came in 7th or so, a good 7 seconds behind #1. And that was with standard physics.

Do I just suck or has it really become more difficult?

Some reasons I don't like S-class the way it is:

- Scripted AI (they will make the same mistakes if you restart a race at the exact same points)
- Cheating AI (too much PP for the race, using STD physics even if you set it to PRO)

Seriously, I don't mind getting beaten by a game if it's actually better than I am, but the cheating and scripting thing is the easy way out IMO. Right now winning is more a matter of luck (e.g. good starting grid with slower cars in front) than of pure skill.

For the first time today since completing the events when the game came out.. I went back to S-10 to tune a car for a request I had. I tried a number of different cars, GT-LM, Tuned Vette, Nismo GTR and yes.. I too tried the Elise cause I saw them circulating.
I was really struggling to get near a top 3 placing, in STD mode.. I didnt recall this race being this hard...

I then tuned up the Clio/Tuned V6 (A car I dont normally drive) and not only did I get GOLD I had taken the lead by Lap 3 and won the race by 6.5 seconds.... what the hell happened ?!?!?!?! (I have the replay saved as I could not believe this myself)

I have a feeling it depends on the cars that populate the grid.. The top 3 cars in this race as I passed them were a TVR then 2 Blitz Skylines. I dont recall seeing any Elises and I dont recall any GT-LM's in there either... My lucky day ? I think so.

Lap times by they way (except for first lap) were all 2.00.x or close enough... I think the first lap was a 2:10.x and I managed to slice through the traffic reasonably cleanly.. a few bumps here and there.

i did the exact same as 888 Tuning, i had completed all the events and got golds on all apart from 2 silvers so i desided to try some cars out on the S race at HSR (not sure which S race it was) in a Tuned Clio (i think) and i finished 6th. After that race i bought an Aston Martin and desided to see how good it was on the same race and i managed to get an easy 2nd place so i think it must be the AI.
oh and since i bought up the Aston Martin i just wanted to say WOW the interior is insane, love it.

I think you could be right there. The Elise seemed to have more than the minimum possible HP, they were fast!

I also noticed that generally, the grid split into two or three distinct groups. The majority of the cars (7 or 8) maybe are similar powered cars and drive in a tight group. Then you get another group that consists of 5 or 6 cars that are faster than the main group, and then you get 1 or two that stretch out right in front of the pack.

One car I did notice was always finishing in first place was the Amuse S2000 GT1, it would win every race it was in by a comfortable margin.

You for got to mention 'immune to penalties'. I collide with a car, and I get a collision penalty, they collide with me, and I get a collision penalty. They however remain unaffected throughout.

I was surprised at how good the Clio tuned was myself. I managed to get at least a podium finish on the first 9 races, eventually... (I was up until gone 2am trying!), but S-10 is rock solid! I know I have to drive a lot cleaner at Suzuka, but the field is ridiculously fast!On the other 725pp races, the tuned Clio creamed the field, except at Suzuka.

I really hate the fact AI can't compete in pro physics with you. All the races are more or less off due this fact.

I have seen the AI run a tuned lotus around suzuka. It spun at least once per lap.

Sounds like that they forgot to change the pre-set cars for the races when they changed the PP value for cars, remember the Tuned Elise used to dominate the PP650 class online? (you were one of those that used it, if I remember rightly )

After all the changes they have made to the cars themselves and the penalties and such, they've either forgotten to or they can't change the settings for the offline race classes and the AI, meaning the offline game has been effectively broken by the online updates.

I get that online - somebody crashes into the back of me and sends me flying off the track going into a bend = 'Ramming' Penalty then 'Shortcut Penalty' because, obviously, driving really slowly around the grass on the outside of a corner gives me a massive advantage.

However, if I so much as brush up close to someone on a corner exit, lo and behold - a 'ramming penalty' surely the word 'ram' suggests some form of impact, maybe enough to make a tiny dent or scratch the paint in real life but no, I get it for travelling within 12 feet of another car at 5mph.

What do PD have in store for me next? 'Red car penalty' just like the F1 introduced to try stop Schumacher walking away with all the silverware? Perhaps a 'too many numbers in your PSN ID penalty' or a 'too far/ not far enough in front/behind' penalty.

That was a problem in GT4 as well. I forgot which event it was, but it was one of the rallye courses...and the first corner was a left hander, and you were on the outside at the start. So the AI would move over and bump you and you would get penalized (this happened in like the first 5 seconds). Infact the only way I could figure out to NOT get penalized was to brake and just let him in front of me.

Edit, I dont know, I can't figure this game out. I mean at fuji yesterday, for the first time since the update, I got hit with a ramming penalty when somebody hit me. I was on the inside and this person turned in too sharp and bumped me...boom, 5 seconds.

Without looking at the programming code, I'd suggest you don't try to work out how the penalties work. That way leads to madness.

I suspect PD have tweaked the penalties, for a laugh, to encourage punters. I'll bet they're logging onto forums like this every day and laughing their asses off at all of our complaints.

Maybe if we enforce a no-whining policy they'll get bored and change it back

speaking of cheating i saw this japanese driver in a GTR cut across the grass on that really tight corner @ fuji and not receive a penalty for it. he was the only car in front of me and i couldnt catch him because of this i couldnt believe it...

Same thing happens just after the first turn on Suzuka. Some people just cut straight accross the grass and can gain a few positions doing it. the Penalty system is laughable.

when i went through the event i used the elise, the gt-r and the ford gt for most events, it wasnt that difficult, you just have to give it a try a couple of times and it all falls into place.

yes i noticed this to, i was also following a RX7 today and from in the middle of the straight he slamed on the brakes, its a good job i was just pulling out to over take him or i would have rammed him.
i have also noticed that when you try to overtake someone they swerve and try to knock you into the wall or onto the grass to try and make you get a penalty.
one of my favourite moments on this race was when me and another racer was on the last lap on the back straight and we both wanted to slipstream down the home straight to take the win. it was so funny because we both wanted the win. glad to see people racing for the win and not just to knock you of the track.
