I'm British but have a morbid fascination with USDM cars. The cars regular folk bought. Stuff like the Saturn S-series, various insipid GM saloons such as the Chevy Corsica, Oldsmobile Alero, Pontiac Grand Am.

From what I gather (please correct my ignoramus behaviour if not), the Chevy Cavalier, based on the 1981 J-Car (which we had in the UK as the boxy Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2) was the first car of many a US teenage driver in the early to mid 2000s. Kinda like the Citroen Saxo/Vauxhall Corsa/Pug 106 here in Britain - badly modified, ubiquitous in college car parks etc. I know they're utterly reviled but I'm sure many here have experienced one. And it was sold in the Far East with a Toyota badge so PD could potentially get hold of one to model.

I think the Pontiac Sunfire GXP '02 is essentially the same car under the skin, and there was the sporty Z24 model too.

Drivetrain: FF
Engine: 2.2 OHV I4, 140bhp

What do you think?
