Holden and HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) are no strangers to the Middle East, ever since 1998 Holden has been exporting their cars to the region only rebranded as Chevrolet. In 2006, 75% of Holden exports reached the Middle East, making the region Holden's strongest export market.
This weekend, at the Desert 400 V8 Supercar round in Bahrain, Holden and HSV will present their latest addition to the CSV (Chevrolet Special Vehicles) range, namely the LHD Chevrolet CR8 which is based on the popular HSV E Series ClubSport R8. The CR8 is powered by the LS2 6.0-litre engine Generation IV V8 engine producing 307 kW (412 hp) with 550 Nm of torque.
Alan Batey, GM Holden Executive Director – Sales and Marketing: “Local buyers appreciate the luxury brands but also seek great performance and handling from their vehicles.” Scott Grant, Managing Director of HSV, said “The initial response from dealers has been exceptional with the CR8 being praised for its aggressive stance, excellent acceleration and handling.”
Not very important news and I really am not the type to like US cars , only Z06 and Viper , but people over here love Chevy , and as the article states 75% of exports are sold over here , if this is priced well its going to be a huge success.
Maybe in a related topic anybody know how many cars GM sells in the middle east compared to other markets ? as there are loads of chevy's out here lol. Only one other manufacture I would thinks sells more over here which is Toyota with their Camery and Corolla
