Well, for my dad it was still a powerful car. He had owned three Volkswagen Bugs, a VW Brasilia and a Renault 12 before that so the V8/4-speed combo was revelatory. He loved taking it to the highway and letting the shifter in fourth, then just stomp on the thing to overtake.

Sounds like it was a fun little toy!

My parent's first car was a Chevy. They got married in 1996 (hence the 96 in my username) and moved here. They had to have a car, since having a car in NC is pretty much a necessity. They bought a 93 Chevy Cavalier Z24 for cheap, and they had it for about 6 months. After that, the Z24 started giving them problems, so they bought a brand new 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier sedan, with that turquoise color. The car was there to take me from the hospital after I was born ;). Then, a year later, sadly they had to get rid of the car because it was simply too small. That's when they traded the Cavalier for a brand new 1998 Honda Accord EX sedan fully loaded. But that's the end of the Chevy story in my family ;)

Same as above besides '99 z28 with ls1 special edition. Has some extras like complete exhaust system re done. Also other small engine add ons. Good running car and good handling.

By the way GO BLUE!

My first Chevy is my current car too. A 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS. It's not terribly fast since it's got the 2.4 naturally-aspirated engine. I'm still undecided whether to mod it or not after paying it off in a year. Supercharging it wouldn't hurt.

I thought all Cobalt SS's were boosted EcoTec's ? I didn't know they were available N/A.:scared:

There was a non-supercharged SS around the time Chevy decided to start sticking the SS badge on everything they had.

I think it was only done in 2006 then 2007-forward they just placed "sport" badges on the 2.4s to make room for the SS turbocharged versions in 2008. I want to make mine a sleeper though if I have some money lying around :)

They could've just called the 2.4's an "RS" to avoid the marketing nightmare.

My first Chevy, my first car, and the car that I thought was the coolest thing ever as a little kid, my Camaro. Just a 3.4 5-speed. My dad bought it a year before I was born, and babied it. It's in beautiful shape, and runs like it, too. I'm not into muscle cars too much, more into corner carvers, and I think for a car badged "Camaro", it isn't half bad.
