Eh, Lamborghini has done it too with the Gallardo & SV. The country just has a lot of wealthy folks in it.

Err... even with my limited knowledge of the world, I believe China is in the top 10 richest countries in the world. :odd:

I could be wrong...

Edit: Yes, I am wrong. China is rich, but given the large population, the money has to be split several more times.

No, you were right. China is accordingly, the 2nd richest in the world by GDP.

Edit* Rechecked it & Forbes says it is the 8th.

Yes, but is anyone there really able to buy a Ferrari? I'm not trying to prove anything, its a serious question.

Its a country of 1.5 billion people. I'm sure they have quite a few people who can afford a Ferrari. According to wikipedia, they have 115 billionaires, second to only the US.

Oh, thanks. 👍

Hong Kong alone is home to over 20 billionaires & they expect in the next decade, 3 of the world's richest cities will be within' China.

I believe Rue has said in the past regarding Hong Kong, that those who can afford to drive their own cars are amongst the wealthiest.

Pretty sexy Ferrari. As the 458 Italia continually grows on me (apart from the beautiful 360 Modena and the F430), this is a lovely edition of the 458 Italia.

Yep, they are the second biggest economy but only the 90th in per capita GDP.

Even for a communist(more capitalist nowadays) country, it's fair to say the resources are not quite evenly distributed as one would think, so there is plenty of wealthy people to buy these Ferraris. ;)

It's funny how people here in the west see the Dragons as cheesy details and the chinese love these things. It all comes down to personal taste, I think the details are a bit over-the-top to me. They did something almost impossible here, made a 458 unnatractive.

Take that dragon away and I'm love again.

I agree with you.

Also China has so many super rich people now everyone is making special China edition things. It's such an easy sell too. Rich Chinese people want to stand out and show off so these companies make normal cars than add a couple things and call them the China edition and charge much more. All these billionaires jump at it.

Yes.

Ok guys after thinking about it there are lots of and will definitely be more of China exclusive cars. So I changed the thread to be about all the cars that China only gets. This will be a place to trace them all so lets get to posting!

-> I used to remember this only-for-China M3 Tiger Edition:

-> Also this one, M3 Carbon Edition:

China gets all the luck? Having a Ferrari with a dragon painted on it is like having the Chinese symbol for Power tattooed on your bicep.

I'll pass.

There's limited edition cars all over in the dealerships up the road from me. I've been in Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari in recent months to drool. :D

Same here.

Now, that M3 Carbon Edition on the other hand.

They let you in those car like that ? Wow dealership where you live are really cool, here in switzerland if you dont prove that you have some kind of money you arent even touching ferrari's and the likes.

I think the Citroen Numero 9 is for China too. But I still much rather live in America no matter how many cool cars they get :)

China exclusive cars probably don't make much difference to the super rich. If you want it, hop in your private jet off to Hong Kong, buy said china exclusive car, have it shipped back on cargo plane (probably private if you are mega rich) and you now have China exclusive car.

They are pretty tacky. I mean, just look at this 599:

This 'China Edition has paintwork designed too look like 'cracked porcelain'. Yuck.

What a stupid concept. No one that's Chinese (I know, I am Chinese) would buy a car that's broken before you've even taken it home.

The Chinese love decoration in a big way a bit like the middle east and if your buying an expensive car it needs more than just a colour to stand out. After all, all your billionaire friends probably have the same car! Of course it might not be appealing to the west because its not aimed at western tastes.

They are also massively into personalisation / customisation and with car's becoming the norm everyone is keen to tart it up with vinyls, accessories etc. With auto modification rules being non resistant in China you can rice it any way you like even if its a potential death trap.

I once saw a red Ferrari 360 convertible in China with large anime stickers all over it, literally sticker book type stickers not proper waterproof vinyls. To each his own, I don't blame them because with the sudden wealth most of the population is experiencing you can do what you like.

In Hong Kong take the list price of a car then double it, that's pretty much how much its going to cost all in to get a new car on the road. Plus paying for petrol and parking will make your eyes water.

I like how Chinese "specials" are just the same car with different paint, and a higher price tag.

Lol the price for the normal editions are already much higher. These special ones are like double the price of those. The interior is all they car about. Fanciest of everything, throw a dragon on it and raise the price. Such an easy money grab. If I was a car manufacturer I'd get on that boat.

^ Yea... I don't like China. Even Top Gear had an episode where they talked about a bunch of cars they've ripped off.
