That's right, China don't think Renault's cars are safe enough.
And that's not a misprint. China's 'General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine' (much better name than EuroNCAP) have banned Renault from selling in their country.
Why? Well we don't know. They haven't released any specific information about why the 4 cars in question have been banned, but have said that they have 'serious safety risks' and that they don't adhere to certain technical regulations.
Irony alert!
It's not clear why China seem to be holding this grudge towards Renault, but frankly it's one that Renault should have seen coming. Think about it: there are copies of BMW, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, Jeep and even Daewoo's cars floating around in China, but no Renaults. And when the Chinese don't start stealing your ideas, you know something's wrong.
I mean really China, if you don't want Renault all-up-in-yo-space, just say so! They only sell 1000 cars per year there, so I don't suppose they'd mind going away if you asked nicely...
