Xbox??? Who is this Xbox??
MY Dad chipped a rim on his 'Stang, on the edge of it and punctured the tire on the sidewall while driving down this road. The tire is ripped on the sidewall and the chip is about the size of a the tip of your index finger. Any way to repair the rim without buying a new one?

Yes. There's rim repair shops that will get it back to like-new for about 100-200 bucks....

Or you can buy a whole new rim for about the same price

Yes Mustang rims are anywhere from $250 to $700 through Ford depending on what kind of rims they are. Go to www.fordparts.com and input the information on the car.

Personally I don't think it's worth it to get rims repaired, everyone I've ever know that had repaired rims always has issues with them with either slow leaks or they were off balance.

Refurb. If you want to do it quick and cheap and have some equipment; Dolphin filler + hardener, Mini DA Sander + 80, 180, 320, 500 grade discs, scotch, aerosol primer and silver then dry. If any of your friends work in car bodyshops or the like this equipment should be avail + the air compressor.

Well, we went to the Ford Dealer today... the Pirellis weren't priced too bad... 225 with installation and everything. However, they didn't tell us about the wheel repair, since they don't do it. A brand new wheel (Stock 18" GT) are $390 CAD... screw that. The chip is on the edge, about the diameter of your... hmm....its smaller than the centre button of an iPod....ah! Its about the diameter of 1-1.5 CM. It doesn't look like that it would leak air, since the tire sits in the rim, however, the edge IS kinda sharp. I think that if repair would be around $100 (+- $15) it would be nice. Other than that, I think buffing the edge down would be the best, and then clean it. Also, should we replace 1 tire or replace the 2 rear tires?
EDIT: Site says our rims are $490.. dealer isn't ripping us off!

Both, always do both. I know two people who have smashed into walls because one of their rear tires was worn and the other one was new.

Can you post a pic of the rim please? If you're lucky it's the type the aftermarket has reproduced and you can get a brand new one for $115 or so

I'll try to get pics up.. Its these ones:

snipple

Just get a set of FR500's and be done with it.

FR500's are pretty nice looking wheels. I almost went with them on my '67. If you're going to use them, go with an anthracite or silver finish; they look better than chrome.

He does have a good point though, why not consider just getting some aftermarket wheels?

Well, chrome looks nice because of the Colour of the car:

Take that and put the wide, Shelby, Silver stripes on it. That would be identical to the car.
However, the prices on the FR500's are $180 each:

Why spend over $800 bucks when I can get it repaired for around $125? Also, John shouldn't be really telling to order stuff online after how he and his buddies raped me with shipping fees....

Ships only to US. I'm in Canada.... how the hell did you find that??? You sure it won't break?

I searched "2010 mustang gt wheel". And if I knew the answer to that question I'd have won the lottery by now.

"The posted shipping rate is the flat rate anywhere in the lower 48 U.S. States. If you are out side this area, you must contact us via email with your full address for a shipping quote."

Aftermarket has reproduced those, you can find 'em easy. That or ebay. Luckily for you they are a common wheel, and more luckily, people with mustangs love the aftermarket wheels more so those just end up laying around

Well, we got the tire off, and we went to a shop yesterday who welded in the chip for $40 and primed it. Then we went to Canadian Tire and found a paint that is the closest to the rim, which was a Ford Silver Birch. Now the paint is curing and needs a clearcoat on top. To be honest, once it gets the clearcoat, it will be all nice. It is barely noticible, and when travelling at 120 KMH, no one will notice it.

Did you buy the tire through the dealership? OEM tires are generally terrible values for the money, though that OEM replacement for that Ford, assuming it is the 18 inch wheels, is 138 USD on Tirerack, so I imagine you can find it for less elsewhere.

And  Canada post system.

Nope, Ford is the cheapest I can find in Canada, Canadian Tire sells them for 260 a piece and Goodyear sells them for 270 a piece. Just checked tire rack, with shipping it will be around $180 W/O taxes.

Done the clearcoat, paint mismatching is barely visible, I mean, you have to be a hawk to notice it.

Your lucky new ones are cheap for you.

One rim for my car costs $1012.

I grazed my rim and wanted to know the cost.

But i would try ebay for new ones.
