GT6 forces us to buy a Honda fit as our first car, but the thing is, I like having the freedom of choosing my own first car. It's something small, but it's kind of annoying, like a flea, so we should be able to have the freedom of choosing what car to buy ourselves.

This is an obvious feature. Maybe they didn't want us to overkill the first races, but they could have just given a list of cars to choose from.
True, but the first races had a very low pp level restriction, so they wouldn't have to worry about that. :)

Ah yes, your first car in GT's Career Mode. I remember back in GT2, right from the get-go I was able to buy a Nissan Pulsar GTi-R for less than 10k. Car was a freakin' pocket rocket, it had around 220hp an 4WD. You could do a lot of the first few races with no upgrades at all and because of that, you'll be able to save up a lot of money.

Being able to choose your first car, yeah, I want that back in the next GT game. Would be quite interesting to have "first car" discussions again. :)

I know right!? I remember my first car in GT4 was a red Mitsubishi lancer GSR ll, that was one car that won a lot of races in the day, and helped me get through the special events with all of the rallies. Those were the good old days of GT.

my first car back in GT4 was also a Lancer Evo II GSR. Both the Evo II and the Pulsar were awesome starter cars, but while the Pulsar was THE best starter car in GT2, the Evo II wasn't (the best bang for your buck in GT4 was the Camaro Z28, IIRC). Still, the Evo II is a great car. I remember my brother seeing me tune my Evo II, he was like "What's that? Why are you tuning that crappy-looking car?" I said to him " It's my first car in GT4. Never forget your first car."

I can still remember every first car I choose from the each game in the series, it was always a great moment akin to searching through the old autotrader books for what takes your fancy. GT6 removing that was... very daft.

I think that if you chose your own car, some stupid person would buy a 1960s fiat 500, as it is very cheep just to have some money left over, then go and spend the rest on visual mods. When they go to race they wouldn't be able to keep up with 400pp cars effectively breaking the game.

If you were to do something like this, you would need some sort of limitations, say when you first log on to GT7 day one, and a screen pops up with five or six cars to choose, each varying slightly in performance, (say like a Focus RS with higher top speed, R32 Skyline for more acceleration, Silvia S15 for better cornering, etc.)

you could start off with 25,000 credits, then all the cars on the screen could cost 20,000 credits off the bat, giving you some kind of one time beginner discount, then after that all return to their usual 35,000/40,000 price. This would give people 5,000 left over for visual mods/liverys/performance mods/buying a kart. Giving people more freedom at the start of career mode.

I don't think you give people enough credit, past GT's have come with option of a poorly chosen first car but somehow we all survived anyway! For some people starting with an awful slow bucket is part of the fun.

I'm pretty sure the OP isn't saying "let us choose any car." The OP is just saying don't do this:

gt6-famitsu-2-638x358.jpg

And while they are at it don't do what GT5 did either.

But even in your scenario, if you make that mistake by definition you are still at the very start of the game so what difference does it really make?

I think that a choice of 4-10 cars would be decent. Maybe in the "Suggested" cars area.

Just NOT this.

Oh, well. It's done quickly and painlessly enough..... ;)

I remember always starting GT4 with the Evo II, until I learned to do the licences first to get the 270R. There's always that moment when you buy your first car. Treasuring it forever and making it into the ultimate low end racer once you won alot of credits. I did that with the Mk III Supra in GT2 (Or was it GT1?)

Am I reading that right or does the fit cost 1,700,000Cr there!?

Choose our first car ? No I want the game to choose my first car.

Why? What's the point in REMOVING player choice? Instead of going on a rant about how player choice is a good thing I'll let you explain why it should be removed...

I have a feeling that he is being sarcastic.... ;)

I would like if there were 4-10 "Starter" cars in the "Suggested Cars" section that we can see to get our first car from. That way, we would use more than the dealerships at LEAST once! ;)

That's how Forza has always done it so GT should at least try that formula

I was almost thinking maybe have some recommended cars, but still have the choice of any car, or if they are available, do some license tests before buying the car instead of right away.

I went and bought an Autozam in GT2 for my first car and had to grind and grind and grind to get a better car. However, say give us options between the '89 miata, Fit and a Vitz '07 for example.

I immediately sold the Fit and bought a City Turbo II, an awesome little sleeper (up yours, Kaz!). In GT 2, my starter car was the 500 R, which was good enough for the Sunday Cup and the one-make 500 race, and saving money for a vintage muscle car. Keep Gran Turismo weird and unique!

I remember in GT4, my first car was the Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M from the user car dealership! Those were the days! Just a thought: Wouldn't it be cool if the first race picked up right in the middle of the action? Like we jump in the car during a pit stop and battle it out in LMPs! That would be intense! Okay, maybe not LMPs, but you get the point!
