Ok so i dont own an F50 turbo. However i have a video of one on my webpage. I've heard this on other cars before but the f50 video is one of the few where u can hear it. The f50 accelerates, after a while a puff of brown smoke comes out of the exhaust (i assume thats when the driver hits full throttle) then u hear the dump valve as he changes gear, the he accelerates again, lets go, and u hear the dump valve a second time. then u hear the noise im looking for. I describe it as the car coughing :P does anyone know what it actually is? (i've heard this on cars before including the aston martin vanquish, which i assume is NA)

the mpeg is here:

oh yeah and does anyone have more (higher quality) videos of the F40 and F50? heh

sounds just like when he let off it sucked some air into the exhaust you know, my fourwheeler does something like that

i doubt its a misfiring system halfrace, cause like i said i heard an aston do that in real life... but what u say slick could be possible. can anyone else confirm that?

I think it's just unburnt fuel exploding on the exhaust manifold.

Looking at the exhaust, I would say the car has some significant fuel flow control issues. Firstly it seems to have a huge flat-spot as he first takes off, but then just before he changes gear there's a fairly significant puff of particulates which would indicate overfuelling (perhaps as the turbo blades go supersonic).

Certainly, it looks like the ECU needs some work.
