Hi all,

Want to get the Mrs a basic laptop for Christmas she'll only use it for Facebook, shopping, storing pictures and FarmVille so nothing too taxing.

I had a look about, found a few possibles but I've noticed quite a few Chromebooks and they look quite smart but are Chromebooks worth it as they run a Chrome OS system, does that make it quite restrictive? Am I better off getting a Windows OS laptop? Internal storage not really a problem as we shore most things in "the cloud" anyway.

My budget it below £200 and refurbished laptops are out of the question (unfortunately) picky women ;)

Thanks in advance

I have a Chromebook and I like it.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is a Chromebook is a web browser. Period. You can do everything you've listed with it, with the proviso that the pictures are stored in the cloud somewhere; chromebooks are quite limited when it comes to local storage.

I should qualify that by mentioning that my chromebook can accept an SD card, USB sticks, and external USB drives.
