In my house my wife goes nuts. We have... hmmm, let's see... six lighted decorations (little igloos and quaint houses), a wooden toy train, various candles and poinsettias, snowflakes on the window, a ribbon/card display thingy, a (real) tree, and a ton of lights up on the house with these ten three ft. tall lighted candy canes up either side of the walk. I couldn't vacuum my car yesterday because all the extension cords are being used, had to go buy a new one.

When I was single I never did anything. I just went to my parents'.

I protest a little when my wife does all this because it just seems like a different house and I'm a creature of habit, but then it grows on me and I'm glad she takes the initiative to do it. She saves me from being a Scrooge.

I guess the only downside is having to turn off a million things before bed every night.

Nothing here. We don't even have a tree yet. I think last year we got a tree on Christmas Eve. Heh.

This house barely ever gets decorated.

I don't even have the room for a tree in my little student room.
But yesterday my girlfriend bought the biggest 🤬 tree i've ever seen.

I had to remove almost half the tree so it could stand up and fit in my room.

A tree in the lounge, and one in the home office. Oh, and this circular branchy thing I don't know the English term for, hanging on the front gate.

That's it really, my mom wanted lights in the trees along the parkway, but the dogs would chew up the cables. :)

That's another reason why i didn't want a tree in my room.

My rabbit will eat the needles falling from the tree.

It always looks smaller sitting againist those other trees!

I always decorate! My whole house is filled, but I have to admit its really only cause I live with the parents again. My mom does most the inside stuff, I just do the outside. When I had my own place, all me and my roomates did was the outside, and then got a little fake tree. So i am not so much into the inside stuff, but I do love this time of year! I think its a bit noticable, I even go as far to change my avatar and my signature! Hey I think its fun!

Three cats have a unique appreciation for a tree inside the house. Every day a new ornament bites the dust. But whad 'ya gonna do...

Heh, my uncle gets a tree so big he has to cut a hole in the ceiling so the damn thing will fit.

Some people are crazy.

What the hell? He actually cuts up his house to fit a tree? Haha!

Yep, he usually gets a tree that consumes the entire room, and most of the adjacent rooms. It's like a ****ing redwood or something.

We tend to keep the dogs out of the rooms with christmas trees, they can be quite territorial if you catch my drift. :D

I saw a show on the BBC last week about a man who has decorated his entire house with hundreds of decorations.......

and keeps them hanging the entire year.

Most peole leave the decorations on all year. Damn lazy people.

Again, my uncle...

We just put up our tree yesterday; this year we got a tall but skinny one. We have 2 kittens in the house so we're not putting any of the really breakable decorations up.

About a week ago we put a wreath on the front door and one white electric candle in each front window. That was all I was planning to do, but the weather was so nice yesterday that I got out the icicle lights and did the whole front of the house.

That's about all we do though; we really don't like knick-knack type stuff.

My family loves our Christmas decorations, and putting them up - it's like a tradition that I enjoy every year. Although we don't do much on the outside, our inside is well decorated! If I find the time I might have to take a few pictures and post them up. We put a lot of work into them even though only a handful of people will see them!

There used to be this Christmas fanatic in Phoenix. He started decorating his house in October. He'd rent a cherry-picker and do a display that nobody in their right mind would even try to beat. People drove from miles around to come and see it. His cul-de-sac was like a traffic jam (poor nieghbors). He'd have animated figures and music and little houses you could look into and see elves making toys. You could seriously spend 20 minutes there. You actually walked through his yard, and he'd dress as Santa and hang out all night and greet people. But it's so sad. His wife died and now he doesn't do it anymore. It was a little tradition... my wife and I and her parents would go see it ever Christmas eve. Now we just talk about it.

I remember hearing about two neighbours in the US, battling eachother. Not physically, but through Christmas decorations. They would both decorate their houses á la your description milefile, and have people vote on the best decorating job. :)

No, but it's really 5'-4" and missing half the important parts like he is.

you're both quite clever, have a cookie.

Why thanks, that was tasty. I have to bake chocolate chip cookies tonight, in fact. Remind me to give you one tomorrow.

:rotfl:

You people are screwed up, hahaha..

Also, as far as decorations go, we have none. Only decoration we have is from halloween, which is a little scarecrow hanging on the door. :p

Rather ironic to have christmas decorations considering your view of religion, Duke.

Either you have no say, or the day is very secularized.
